we have our own duquesne email address now... just go to the directory link, type in your name...and it should show your email address. I'm not sure how long it has been available, I just found mine today.

I got mine off of Amazon as well..... but I just wanted to confirm the spelling of the last name of the author - is it Neumann?? (with two "N's" - or Neuman, with one N - as is stated on the paper...) ?

Thanks.

Hi Sarah ... I am going to be a 1-L in the fall at Duquesne, and was wondering what the most difficult aspect of law school has been for you (if any). Other than that, thanks for posting the advice.  I'm not sure what section I am going to be in yet, but I definately will take your advice about reading up on cases for the first day, etc. From what I understand, we don't find out what section we will be in until registration (which is the Monday before school actually starts)...ANYONE correct me if I am wrong though (and hopefully I am) - thats just what I gathered from the orientation material that was sent.

Sarah,  another quesiton - do 1 - L's have an easy or difficult time trying to find summer work...in other words, what do 1-Ls do during the summer?

Hello, CPA-1,

I've got a ton of questions, but I guess I'll just start out with a very broad one...what is law school like at Duquesne? The professors? how much time should be spent studying for each class? and any advice?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Thats really interesting about Pitt....and is encouraging for Duquesne......

I'm not very familiar with UPitt. Besides accepting higher LSAT scores/ GPA, etc.... what does Pitt have curriculum-wise that Duquesne does not?

Has anyone received their orientation/class info from Duquesne yet? Just checking...    I'm curious as to what section/ which classes I'm taking this fall.

That's awesome Robert. I wish I had that kind of luck with moving. I chose a place to live in undergraduate without visitng - and, well...the nicest thing I can say about the place is that it had a roof. But it was my own fault. Do you ever think about going back to England some day to practice law?

But about law school - and the high school type of childish attitudes...I couldn't agree more with what you said. In the college I attended, we also all said dumb things, but no one ever made a comment. Go figure that it happens in law school...

Also, what type of law is everybody / anybody interested in?
- For me, I'm not sure yet. Though I've thought about environmental or health care law.

I was thinking about moving to Pittsburgh early August - just to get settled in, explore some of the city and Pennsylvania for that matter.

I've got the Planet Law School II book, and I agree with what it says - but, it is mostly the self-evident type of suggestions. Such as: learning to brief, dedicating time to reading, studying. It seems to repeat this over, and over, and over. I've got a few other books, yet they all follow the same format. A few good, solid suggestions hidden in 200 pgs of the obvious. The good thing is, I feel like I have thought about law school to the point that I feel okay with it...I'm prepared to make a total ass of myself when called on...possibly saying the dumbest thing that might come to my mind, then get over it and go on with my day. That's life. I know that other people will laugh at me (and I will be laughing at myself as well), but inside - they are judging themselves too. However, I hope that Duquesne, being a smaller size, will not be filled with such a high degree of competition.

That sounds like a good plan, Robert. I'm just spending some time on the beach... I thought I'd read a few books on law school, etc. I've read that people either agree with the books or not at all. So, don't get any ideas..I'm not planning out my life around them. But I would like to know your opinions on what/whether to read, etc. I just thought that I'd check them out. (i've been reading other parts of the board that trash the books)

Oh, and I am teaching my little nephew to swim.

Joshdelight - I found one near the southside section (i think thats the area...I've not gotten quite use to the area names yet)...and I am pretty sure that's the one that I am going to go with. But I also saw an apartment on the northern side of Pittsburgh (actually, it might not be IN Pittsburgh, I'm not sure) that I liked.

On the financial aid question.... I have finished that whole process...stafford loans and all.

David - you might have some people taking you up on the 'taxes for food' offer, just remember who your  friends at Duquesne are (us!)

Also, about the banks.... yesterday I signed up with PNC bank online...and am very happy to hear the good remarks you gave them today. I think that they have a satellite office on Duquesne's campus (in the main student union) as well.

Hi David - Congrats on finding an apartment, I know what you are going through .... I was searching for one in the same area a month ago. It's a huge relief to finally find one. And besides... August will be here before you know it.

On another note... Has anyone received any info in the mail about registration, orientation, etc. at Duquesne? I called a few weeks ago and the administration person told me that it should be out the next week (from when I called). Just wondering.... ???
