Choosing the Right Law School / Re: WUSTL (25k/yr) vs. Vandy
« on: June 09, 2008, 07:46:44 AM »
Made this decision last year. Went with Vandy - couldn't be happier.

I did not like St. Louis AT ALL. Nashville is an amazing city and the cost of living is low. Additionally, there are many great and affordable neighborhoods to live in - within walking distance from the law school. It was a tough decision for me because my boyfriend was in at both medical schools and WashU is ranked 4th for med - however, even he says that he wouldn't have been as happy at WashU as he is at Vandy.

I think quality of life is a very important thing to consider - and for myself, Vanderbilt was the right choice.

I asked Vandy for money because I was turning down WashU and I got a small scholarship (10k/year).

I am in your position and definitely want to return to New England when I graduate. I chose Vanderbilt and I LOVE it here. Its definitely the best fit for me. My reccomendation is VANDY!

Also, placement wise, we do place better than UT in the NE. BUT most people that attend UT want to stay in the south so its minorly self selecting

I'm a Vandy 1L now, and I LOVE it. I was also deciding between wash u with money and Vandy with a smaller amount. Vandy hasn't done their scholarships yet, they are working on them this month. You should hear from them soon.

I went to WashU's admitted students day last year, and I hated St. Louis - Nashville grows on you and is actually a ton of fun. Obviously I'm biased.... but I would wait and see what Vandy gives you....

If they googled me... all they'd get would be chemistry research, that i gave to my senior class, and all my high school track records that are apparently archived by Hi-TEK and

I guess I'm the only one with my name on the internet. however you only get like 10 site hits... 7 are high school track.

In in Nashville now. I love it. You should come to Vandy... though I understand that 2400 is a lot of money... Did you ask about any Vandy money??

Def not fat... but if I continue eating the way I do, I will be HUGE once my metabolism slows.

its a shame, cause it is so ez to eat bad, so hard and $$$ to eat good...

It's not even that.. I'm lucky I'm hypermetabolic right now. Thus I eat brownies and cookies and chocolate and cheese and bread like its my job. I'm very into protein too, but those fruits and vegetables just seem to get left out.

Def not fat... but if I continue eating the way I do, I will be HUGE once my metabolism slows.

You can get a good job from Vandy in NYC. I have friends that have done it. Part of why Vandy was my first choice was their experiences. I LOVE Vandy, and you should def have chosen it.

I hope virtual friendships can be just as good as real ones...

Its sad but I've met 2 of my past boyfriends, and my current boyfriend online through AIM. I've had mutual friends with all of them... but yeah... we really met online.

Hmm, is New Balance some sub-brand of another producer? Never seen the name around here, but it caught my interest since you guys were talking about shoes for wide feet. I'm well anchored to the ground :p

uh no. New Balance makes some of the best running shoes or the best running shoes depending on your preference, NB and Asics are pretty much the leaders when it comes to running shoes. both brands were making running shoes back when the swoosh was just a big check mark. i'm surprised you've never heard of them, they have a big N on the side.

What's the difference between Asics and NB?  I've been wearing Asics for a while now, and while they're OK, they wear out pretty quickly.

NB are generally made with a more durable sole and more cushioning for your foot, and they are slightly wider. When I ran in high school I wore Asics flats, and also found that they wore out quickly. However, Asics makes their running shoes and flats much lighter than most others, so that might be the reason for their somewhat shorter lifespan.
