I'll join the club.  I'm sticking it out on the WL.

Duke was my first choice.   :(

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Which law school has the best COFFEE?
« on: January 28, 2007, 03:42:47 PM »
This thread is genius.

When I was briefly on GWU's campus over the summer, I think I saw two or three Starbucks in close walking distance.  I don't know about anything free though.

Anyone have any coffee info on Cornell or Vandy?

I want to join in the ranting!

Dear Duke - I've been complete at your school for over two months.  Now, I realize my numbers aren't priority track worthy, but I really do love you, and why, oh why, won't you send me a decision?!

Also haven't heard from UCLA, UVA, UMich, or Berkeley... and it's driving me crazy.

I don't know about the other schools, but UPenn's deferral letter specifically asks you to send in Fall 06 grades.

Checking the mail sounds about right. Other than that they stayed out of my way when I was trying to finish my applications.

They do seem to know what schools I want to go to since when I got my first and so far only acceptance the conversation between my dad and I went like this:

Me: Oh, I got my first law school acceptance. I'm in at Mizzou.

Dad: Yeah, but you don't really want to go there, right?

That's actually the exact thing my mother said to me when I got into William & Mary.  My response was something like, "It's not my first choice, but still... I got into law school."  Kinda deflated the excitement of the first decision.

I love my mother, but she doesn't really know much about applying to law school.  She's been very supportive throughout the whole process, but whenever I call her to tell her about an acceptance, I always get the same response:  "Is that a good school?"

haha my mother has this idea that if I go to a school in cali I am going to end up with some valley girl.  She has this horrible impression of the girl she is picturing that she'll do, no matter where we are (ie. christmas parties...)

Yeah, my mother is also terrified of the idea of going to law school in CA.

Also, for those who received acceptance packages -- was it to your temp or perm address?

It came to my current (temp) address.

Didn't receive a scholarship e-mail though.   :(  Doesn't GW also send scholarship info through snail mail?  I thought I remember someone getting an actual letter.

Law School Applications / Re: You know that feeling...?

Got a feeling my luck is about to tank.

I agree.  The schools that I still need to hear from are ones that I have bad feelings about.  That being said, I'd rather receive my rejections now so I can happily focus on my acceptances and not constantly worry when I walk to the mailbox.

"If luck wasn't involved, I'd always be winning."

Deferred at Penn and Georgetown.  I doubt that Penn will turn into an acceptance, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for G-town.  I sent an updated transcript to LSAC, but other than that, sadly, not much has changed...

Law School Applications / Re: Notre Dame requested an addendum from me

I suggest submitting an addendum expressing your significant interest and then withdrawing your application the day they accept you.

Ha, excellent idea!
