Studying for the LSAT / Re: December 2005 preptest
« on: September 28, 2006, 12:18:42 PM »
When i did this game, I set up the time slots stacked like this...

North _ _ _
South   _ _ _

Which I guess is the same, but for me it was less confusing than the X notation.

I think the major key to this game was that at 8:00 (or was it at 10, Im not sure if i remember) that they both had to be either both rock or both folk. I think the rule was something like "If a rock band plays a 8 then a folk band cannot", something like that (don't have it in front of me). This rule infers that two bands of the same type had to play at 8.

The scale was very rough on this test, but I thought the games were SUPER easy. This one was proabably the hardest, but I think the first game (the appliance one) was a joke.

I vote Pabst!

This was a serious oversight. You are right, I should have used Pabst.

Ahh..yes..i need to ammend rule 1 to say, "AT LEAST as many drinks of whiskey as beer." That was my intent. With that fix in the rules, there is still a mistake in the answers. What can I say, this is the first game I tried to come up with...

Yes, we can cross Amstel Light off, I was trying to think of a beer that has a different first letter from the other ones I thought of off the top of my head.

I would be happy with either Jameson or a Bushmill's single malt for the rest of the night, but that wouldn't make for a very good game.

Ok, those who have worked the problem, I noticed an error in one of the quetions. Bonus points if you find it...

Studying for the LSAT / Re: PT49 Disaster

Dude...the first LR section was LONG. It seemed like there wasn't any white space at all on on some pages. I was pretty bummed as I was taking it because I guessed on the last 4 in the first LR section. I also ran out of time on the RC section, which almost never happens, and guessed on one question. I guessed wrong on all of them, but, I only missed three others. To me, this is a win.

I'm being George Costanza, I'm going out on a high note. No more LSAT until Sat.

Allroy, who completed the LSAT earlier that day, will consume seven different drinks, one at a time, during the course of the night. Allroy only drinks five types of whiskeys: Bushmill's, Crown Royal, Glenlivet, Jameson, Maker's Mark and four types of beer: Amstel Light, Killian's Red, New Castle, Shipyard Export Ale. The following rules apply:

Allroy has as at least as many drinks of whiskey as beer. (This rule was ammeneded due to an error...not the one listed below)
Allroy does not have his first beer before his first whiskey. (He doesn't want to get sick) (Another rule ammended...good thing I'm not writing these for real)
If Allroy drinks Killian's Red, he does not drink Shipyard Export Ale.
If Allroy drinks Glenlivet, he drinks Bushmill's.
Allroy drinks Jameson either first or last.

1) Which one of the following is a complete and accurate list of the drinks Allroy consumes from first to last?
a) Jameson, Killians, Glenlivet, Bushmill's, Shipyard, Crown, New Castle
b) Amstel, Bushmill's, Maker's Mark, Glenlevit, New Castle, Killian's, Jameson
c) Bushmill's, Shipyard, Crown, Marker's Mark, New Castle, Amstel, Jameson
d) Glenlevit, Bushmills, Shipyard, Amstel, New Castle, Jameson, Crown
e) Jameson, Killian's, Bushmill's, Shipyard, Amstel, New Castle, Glenlevit

2) If Allroy drinks exactly 4 whiskey's, which of the following must be true?
a) Allroy drinks Killian's
b) Allroy drinks Glenlevit
c) Allroy drinks New Castle
d) Allroy drinks Jameson
e) Allroy drinks Crown Royal

3) If Allroy does not have two drinks of whiskey in a row, which of the following could be true?
a) Allroy drinks New Castle fifth
b) Allroy drinks exactly three types of whiskey
c) Allroy drinks exactly five types of whiskey
d) Allroy drinks Glenlevit, but does not drink Maker's Mark
e) Allroy drinks Shipyard, but does not drink Amstel Light.

... good luck everyone, and have fun saturday night. We earned it.

EDIT: There is an error on one of the questions, bonus points if you find it!

LSAT horror stories / Re: October LSAT - harder than usual?
« on: September 27, 2006, 04:58:37 PM »
This test. Oct 2005, was the lowest score for my last 10. The RC totally killed me. I must have not been paying much attention because when I went back and looked at the questions I missed, I was really surprised I got them wrong. I also ran out of time (which was a first, I usually finish RC with 2 or 3 mins to spare).

HOwever, I think my crap score had more to do with me than the test.

Law School Applications / Re: LSDAS GPA question
« on: September 26, 2006, 03:37:40 PM »
I graduated from UG in 1998. My GPA was the same on LSDAS and my UG transcript. I think if you have withdraws it can affect your LSDAS (I didn't have any). I'm not sure where you heard this, but from my experience the age of the grades didn't affect my LSDAS score.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: what time are you waking up on 9/30?
« on: September 26, 2006, 03:00:02 PM »
I have over an hour drive so I will probablly end up waking up around 0530. That way I can get up, eat my usual breakfast, drink my usual coffee and have ample time to get the test center and find parking (which appears to be inadequate). However, I wake up most mornings between 0500 and 0530. I'm trying to keep everything "normal" for test day.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: "New" Lsat

I got hit in the head with this one, too.  Did fairly well on the older tests and was scoring in the mid- to high-160s.  I took October 2005 today and got punched in the gut with a 159.  Ouch.

Oct 05 test was my worse score in my last 15 or so. Yes, the games were easy but the RC totally screwed be up. It was the WORSE RC section for me. Other tests around that time were more typical of what I had been scoring. I just hope that Saturday somehting strange doens't happen.

Since I'm good at the games, I'm actually sort of hoping for a slightly harder games section and a softer scale. However, based on lastest trends, I'd be surprised if that was the case.
