I chose UT over a full ride to SMU because of two simple reasons:
1. its UT, and perception wise in this state, it is far and away the best law school in the state.
2. I like Austin, and am from Austin.  And my fiance is from Austin.

I do really like SMU though  :)

They just said a full scholarship opened up, it wasn't the Sumners deal.  I originally applied for Sumners but withdrew before a decision was made because I knew I wasn't going to go there.

I don't know what the deal is with admissions at SMU.  I got in back in December and got a nice scholarship, but sent my withdrawal letter in after I got into UT.  Then, about 2 weeks ago, Virginia Keehan (SMU admissions) calls me and offers me a full ride.  Really confusing since I had already withdrawn my application.  But I still said no.  Good luck to everyone waiting on a decision, really its hard to believe that its late April and you are still waiting to hear from them.  Personally, I enjoyed SMU when I visited last fall.  I like the four building quad and how the parking garage for law students is across the street.

Brito and Austinite, would you mind doing us a favor and checking your status checker and then the Freshlaw link, and let us know if either has been changed? Not a big deal if not, but would be helpful. Thanks!
still can't access that page

3.9, 165. My first choice. I have nice scholarships from other schools, but will probably attend UT because it is definitely my number one.

I don't have a full ride at st mary's like one person said, and there were no errors on my application. I have looked over it one hundred times. UT is my number one choice, by far.

In that case, I'd just wait patiently and not be a bother and your delayed acceptance will probably come in the mail in a few months. It sucks, but if it is your first choice, it'll be worth it when it comes.

Also, VERY good chance I'll be going there too (given in-state tuition) so I may see you there.

Not saying you ARE a bother, I just think some applicants have a way of calling up admissions offices all too often.
I'm definitely not going to be calling them up and bothering them.  I will send them updated transcripts and an updated resume after this semester, so hopefully that will help.  I've been deferred, it stinks, but UT is my number one and I'll just be hoping that I get accepted during the regular applicant cycle!
