I'm going to stick with my North Face Borealis and also bring a slmaller duffel for my gym stuff.

So I can't decide. Do I want the screen space or the portability? They're not that different but every little bit helps. The money isn't a huge issue but hey, who wouldn't want to save money.
The other option is to wait until October/November and buy a new Macbook or Pro when they release Leopard and hopefully another Hardware update... I currently have a 12" Powerbook that has always served me well -- I just can't take tests on it in LS.
Good call ordering Applecare. Never buy an apple without it, it's the best service plan known to man.
As for the glossy or Matte. I've heard the glossy just looks better, but the Matte is more true to the actual color. Any thoughts on eye strain between the two?
I have a matte screen on my powerbook and I like it a lot. However I'm not really sure what a glossy screen looks like since I don't have one. At the Apple store it appeared the Glossy screen was much brighter and had richer color.
I'm with you there. If you put the two side by side, they're actually not that different in size. But the screen brightness is so much better on the Pro that I feel like it's worth it.
The LED-backlit display is nice too.

so, if it's 0%, assuming I didn't need it -- why wouldn't I take the money and put it in a savings account anyway? Are there any fees or anything associated with such a move?

Anyone know? I'm not too versed on these things but I received 9k in subsidized staffords and that's probably all I'll need because of the scholarship.
I too am struggling between the 15 Macbook Pro and the Black Macbook. Currently I have a 12" powerbook, and I love it. Unfortunatly the law school software won't run on this bad boy.
I'm leaning toward the pro but my wallet says to get the blackbook. Anyone notice the black book's screen is pretty dull compared to the macbook pro.
LSU is the more conservative school, indeed. If you want to stay in Louisiana LSU is your best bet. Personally I wouldn't pay $40k to go to Tulane when I could pay $11 to go to LSU, it's practically the same degree, for me at least.
