Where should I go next fall? / Re: Where is FSU?
« on: May 31, 2006, 10:16:54 PM »
I declined my acceptance and scholarship this morning from FSU. When I spoke to the admissions director they apparently had extended deadlines to a number of students (myself included). This sort of thing may be delaying the process.

Good luck to those who are still waiting to hear

LSAT horror stories / horror story
« on: May 30, 2006, 02:08:30 AM »
I wrote the February LSAT and during the first section one of the proctors had a seizure, lasted about a minute but he was disoriented and convulsing for approx. 10 minutes. The other proctors didn't say anything but the test continued as normal. Second section it happened again. The proctor was removed right before the third section started. We found out later, he was taken to the hospital but was fine. I had to of course cancel my score and will be doing my re-write.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Scholarship Questions

I put a seat deposit down at one of my schools while waiting to hear from some others. My accepted school offered me a scholarship and needs to know if I will accept it. My question is: If I take the scholarship am I bound to go to this school in the fall?

Oh Canada! / Re: Another Can. v. U.S. Law Schools Topic
« on: May 24, 2006, 09:09:35 AM »
I agree with the above posters. There isn't much difference in the quality of education you will get with ANY of the Canadian schools. If you aren't sure where you want to practice (Canada or the US) you should attend school in Canada. The process to take the bar in Canada with a U.S. JD can be tedious. You may have to take additional courses, sit for more tests and you'll still have to article once you transfer back. You're much better off staying here.

Good luck with your decision.

Law School Applications / Re: Why do people not apply early?
« on: May 23, 2006, 10:34:09 AM »
I didn't apply to any US schools until January and it didn't hinder my application in anyway. The Canadian deadline is 11/1 so when I see a deadline of 2/1 I was in no rush.

Oh Canada! / Re: 0.0% International Students at Boalt, UCLA, etc?
« on: May 19, 2006, 10:04:05 AM »
I agree with you that salary prospects are much better in the US and because of that loans are easier to secure from banks. I decided not to attend a west coast school because the tuition and cost of living are just too high relative to other US locations. That being said I am still going to school in the US. I have other schools offering me sizeable scholarships which significantly cuts down on my fees.

I'm not sure about Boalt and UCLA but I was admitted to the University of San Diego and UC Davis for the fall. I declined both acceptances because in the end I didn't want to pay the $35 000 a year in tuition.
