Put me down for Stanford. =)

I believe that Anne Shirley and Jadecrane (deferring a year) will also be heading to Stanford.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: YLS 2010

i was there, although I skipped out early on Friday.

EDIT: Was there some sort of unofficial LSD ice cream social that I missed?  I didn't see it on the schedule, but it seems like most of the posters in this thread ran into each other...

I ran into some posters (surge, mike, nerdphanie, letylyf, stuart) but didn't spend much time at the ASW at all (only stayed through most of the lunch on Thursday, then I left).

It was fun to hang out with all the LSD'ers (the aforementioned + forthefunofit and a few others)!  Definitely BFF. :)

Edit: Denny-- you came all the way up to New Haven just for a few hours??

Where should I go next fall? / Re: turning down yale
« on: April 25, 2007, 08:46:30 PM »
I'm seriously considering turning down Yale for Harvard. It's not probable, exactly, but it's extremely possible. Go where you want to go.

Stuart--It was nice to meet you (albeit briefly) at the YLS ASW!  I'm also glad to see other people who may not be attending Yale this fall.

I am also planning on turning down Yale.  It makes me really sad to give up the opportunity, but I've got compelling personal ties to the SF Bay Area.

You're remembering the conversation at lunch and not dinner. By the end of the day on Saturday I was convinced that I would be happier at Stanford. I had liked Harvard a lot when I visited but I liked Stanford a lot more. I like the small class size and the access to the professors. The students all seemed really happy. I also agree about Boston being too cold. I never want to move back to the East Coast again.

Jadecrane, that's great!  I'm really excited that you're going to be at Stanford!  Throughout the weekend, I was totally rooting for you to change your mind, so I'm glad I remember wrong.  :)

BTW: that dinner conversation was just so hilarious, esp hearing J's experience with rogue squirrels...

Steph, it'll prob be haunting me too soon!  I will be kind of sad not to be in New Haven this fall. =/

Nope, Harvard is way too big for me and Boston is too cold (no offense).

So what ultimately made you change your mind?  When we talked during ASW, you seemed pretty convinced about going to Harvard next year.

Nerdphanie-- Instead of aborting, you can always send the children out to Stanford to live with me.  If I have a few, I can qualify for EV family housing!

So I guess New Haven really can be dangerous, prolesurge??  I am still officially undecided, but Stanford is looking like the top pick at the moment.  I had a great time at the YLS admit weekend (the messages on my blue folder are priceless) and would love to attend law school with the LSD crowd, but job prospects for the SO are very, very glum.

P.S. abortions become less scary after a person's had 3-4 already ;)

Hehe, okay, unless my memory completely fails me, I think we did go on the same housing tour.  I made the comment about the easy-bake ovens in the apartments.  :)

We could have. I don't really remember what I was wearing or anything but if you met someone who was asking a lot of questions about deferring and getting jobs in Seattle that was probably me. Did you meet anyone who will be in my class (2011)?

I can't remember the details, but I think I met you at the Stanford ASW (unless there is someone else looking to defer and planning on working in Seattle after law school).  So Harvard is out of the picture?

We met a couple of times. I believe we ate lunch and dinner together and we also met in the courtyard outside the law school on the benches.

You have a better memory than I do!  Did you go on the same housing tour as I did?  Or did we eat lunch together on Sunday?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just backtracked through your previous posts and think I figured out.  That's awesome that you're coming to Stanford!!!!  I'm kind of sad that you won't be in the class of '10, but deferral sounds good.  Do you have plans already for the upcoming gap year?
