Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Pepperdine vs. loyola
« on: April 08, 2009, 04:10:47 PM »
Loyola is sinking more and more into a bigger *&^% hole while Pepperdine is getting better and better. While not now, in the long run a degree from Pepperdine will be worth more. Anyways, the chance of getting big law from either is pretty low, so go with the one you like better (Loyola is a prison, go with the beach!).

unless you are from out of the US and you need an LLM to practice here it is a waste of time (unless you are doing tax at NYU GULC or UF.

I'm top 5% and on LR and I regret it completely

It is ALWAYS too early to start outlining because you never should outline. That's what outline banks are for. You are better off reading other peoples outlines with the time you spend making your own. Worked for me and I'm top 5%.

Current Law Students / Re: UT cutoff for top 10% and Law Review GPA

Well I didn't get the highest A+ in my contracts class (one of my study partners did). But as for recommendations, are you talking about for jobs or for transfering, or what? Are you a 2L?

The reason I am thinking about transfering to UCLA is more a personal one (all my family and my friends who i've known for like 15 years are all there). Anyways, I doubt it will hurt me that badly. My grades from UT don't just dissapear and I probably would have a 2L summer job before I start at UCLA anyways.

Job Search / Big Law from UT

Just curious what people think is required to get a 2L Los Angeles Big Law job from UT. I have great grades however, my girlfriend's grades arn't as good. She is has a 3.39, which is slightly above the top 50%, and we both want big law.

Job Search / Re: Chances at a 1L big law job...

So far, not too much luck. My final GPA is a 4.04. I sent 30 resumes and about 5 or 6 e-mails to LA firms and so far 17 or 18 "we are full" letters have come back. So far I have zero interviews too. If anyone has any advice let me know. I think I might just try for a judge or the DA if this doesn't work out though. Thx.
