Current Law Students / Re: Tablet PC or Notebook?

Whatever you get make sure it's bulletproof.  Nothing can ruin a semester like a broken laptop.

I don't see any reason why carpenters shouldn't be allowed to do sheet metal work.  I can't think of anything legally or policy related.  This is a toughie.  Good luck.

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: What's the deal with FIU?
« on: July 24, 2008, 04:43:54 PM »
I haven't heard anything about St. Thomas for a really long time.  I've never run into a current or former student.  If I had to choose between St. Thomas and  FIU, I'd pick FIU only because I actually know it exists.

The job search is tough.  We only have 20 employers for phase one of 2L OCI.  Our career office is great, but there just aren't a lot of biglaw opportunities open to miami grads.

Transferring / Re: Loyola to UCLA--worth it?

I hope he picked UCLA.  It'd be worth it just to get out of that cage they call Loyola.  Seriously, that fence is depressing.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: 3rd Tier vs. 4th Tier Scholarship

Well of those two, definitely Pace.  Florida Coastal keeps emailing me offering me scholarships - I NEVER APPLIED THERE.  What does that tell you?

Pace is a fairly new school and not that highly ranked.  But it does have an extensive environmental program.  I got into higher-ranked schools so I am not going there, but I would have been ok with it.  It's a nice campus and the students seem to be fairly happy.

Cardozo also emailed me unsolicited  offers of admission and scholarships.  Some schools do this to entice students with good numbers.
