1500 miles:  I got a 16' like new truck, for 7 days, with unlimited miles, and a car carrier to tow my car for 900 dollars.

The gas is gonna be another 900 :(

Movers were quoting me @ around 3000 and up, plus another 500 in gas and wear on my car to drive it cross country.

Ill take self move + 1700 dollars + ease of knowing when my stuff is getting loaded/unloaded

Thx.

You got a great deal on that truck. By the time I added in taxes and a few misc (hand truck and furniture pads) it cost me $1200 for the same package, but only about $500 in gas.

I also wound up spending an extra $300 to store the rest of the stuff that wouldn't fit in the truck, $200 on hotel rooms, $100+ on food and $135 to fly back after the move to finish up work and other loose ends over the next few weeks. I also wound up with a mover quote of $2200, which makes them almost the same in my case.

Yea, for the same price I probably wouldn't do it myself... although I do hate how my most valuable stuff tends to get "lost" every time and my furniture broken by the "professionals".

But yea I have been 100% happy with Penske.  In addition to being ~500 dollars cheaper than Uhaul, they have been very accommodating... (picked up furniture pads a week early, let me pick up truck and attach my car on two separate days)

Cliffs:  0L's... use penske if you're self-moving

Where should I go next fall? / Re: 3.08/165/D1 athlete

Id say you're a little less than 50/50 at Emory/Hastings/Davis, maybe 20/80 at BC and BU, and probably >80/20 everywhere else, provided you dont do something retarded.

I had similar #s with a lower GPA, and got in at SMU and Tulane, and dinged from Emory and Hastings, but I applied WAY late.

The D1 athlete thing is a wildcard and could get you into a Boston school.  Definitely not a bad list you threw together.

Yea, I may not speak for everyone, but they mailed us all the same stuff, and I dont know many people who partook.  I dont know how active they are anymore 3 years after the storm.

Seems like the kind of thing a 1L started up as a sweet resume padder a few years back, and has become somewhat obsolete and not had anyone step up to the plate to continue it with the same passion.

Someone correct me if that is way off-base.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: Men, Let's Talk Watches

The Aqua Terras are beautiful.

...And so are those Patek Phillipes. Wow.  I'll take the blue one, please.

Thats the same watch :) ... its double faced.  The workings in there must be ridiculous... it has something like:

Hour
Minute
Second
GMT Hand
Day
Date
Month
Moon Phase
Constellation Map/Skyline

And I must me missing a few.

When I did my exit interviews for financial stuff, I found out that

a)  T.H.E. is selling their loans to subsidiaries, and
b)  That they don't give the 1% discount that they claim to.

The way the financial aid lady made it sound, itd probably be best for you kids to avoid them.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: LSAT: TEST OF SMART'S OR ENDURANCE

He's telling the truth though.  Anyone who buys the powerscore bibles and can put 50 hours into studying should break 165.

This Patek Phillipe sold for about 1.5 million.
Supposedly has 12 complications
