General Board / Re: Law School Confidential Property Hypo
« on: April 20, 2013, 10:02:11 AM »
I think people are missing one key fact in this hypo...

". . . sold to dealer D and then sold to E."

E is a bone fide purchaser. E now has ownership of the chattel. In most jurisdictions, A will not prevail in an action for replevin.

Julie Queen of the Jungle?

Jungle now a democracy?

Or perhaps a Monarchy?

Personal Statement / Re: Personal Statement- PLEASE CRITIQUE
« on: December 30, 2011, 11:53:26 PM »
Hi,

People were kind enough to critique my PS and I am doing my best to "pay it forward."

I like your PS. There are a few things that made me stop and research. For instance, I would drop the "s" from the word "towards" (e.g. toward law school). Although the British do use the word with an "s" on the end. I also saw the word "learnt" (another British term). Although the past participle is technically correct, I think the sentence would read better by using the word "learned." However, realize that I have an American bias and I understand that you may not be American and/or not care to make these changes.

Other than those two changes, I suggest making sure that your PS fits into any particular word/page requirements of the school(s) you want to apply to.

Good job and good luck!

Minority Topics / Re: Do Black People hate Koreans??
« on: December 22, 2011, 12:07:31 AM »
There is no evidence that any race of people hates some other race of people.

Some individuals of a particular race may hate another race. However, it is ridiculous to think that any entire race hates another race.

We may as well ask if Canadians hate bananas...

The question makes no sense at all.

Duly noted Burhop!

I am grateful for any and all feedback. Hopefully the final version grabs attention and provides no more and no less than necessary.

Hey, I've looked around a bit and it seems that no more than 2 pages, double spaced.

I hope that helps...

Good luck!

Personal Statement / Re: personal statement any feedback would be amazing!!

Hi,

I liked your personal statement. It demonstrates several of the factors I believe are necessary to be successful in law school; academic ability, commitment to helping society, and motivation to attain one's goals.

Ashleyrenee's advice is solid and a great starting point. There were a couple of areas that I wondered about grammatical errors and spelling. For instance, I think first hand is supposed to be hyphenated "first-hand". Check it out. I could be wrong.

Good job...and good luck!
