General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Considering MBA/JD?

I'm a 0L and will begin law school this fall, but in addition my husband works at a university nearby that offers an MBA program in conjunction with my JD program. I could get my MBA for free through institutional grant-in-aid. I worked for the Federal government my first year out of undergrad (albeit just as an executive assistant), and made some very strong connections, especially with my former boss who is a senior level government executive. Given the poor market now and my personal connections, I think it is most likely that I will find myself looking primarily for gov work. Would a joint MBA/JD assist with getting a government job? Or would I just be better off spending my summers working internships/externships, and focusing on law school, rather than trying to take MBA courses?

I have researched JAG information on both the AF and CG websites, I'm just a little confused by all the different application routes. I guess I'll try to go ahead and inquire directly.
As for Reserve/non-JAG military gigs I'm not really too interested as I only have negligible loans from undergrad (sport scholly) which I've just about payed off and I have a full-ride to a law school (albeit a T3-T4 school).
I'm mainly looking into JAG programs because I think that I might be able to have a slightly more active/exciting take on legal practice. Also, I'm just thinking that being able to meet/exceed the physical req's gives me an opportunity to perhaps qualify for a job that a large number of LS do not qualify for. In addition I would like the structure of military life, and the dependable pay and unique benefits.
I guess I'm just wondering if it is more or less competitive for women to get into JAG programs or if it doesn't really matter. I know that in the Army JAG it is about 25% female. I'm just curious of anyone happens to know.

I have been accepted to a TTT (ABA accredited) law school (full-ride) for this fall. I played a D1 sport in college, I have great vision, I run ultra-marathons and bike centuries, and I have a clean medical record. In short, I am in excellent physical condition. I am just wondering what I should do now as 0L to try and get into a JAG program? Does it help or hurt to be female for JAG positions? I'm looking  mainly at Coast Guard and Air Force but am willing to consider other branches as well.

I was also a Division 1 athlete and team captain and an Honors Program. What's the best I can hope for? The best I can hope for with a decent scholarship?
