Thanks for the replies! I was in absolutely no way trying to attack or spread false rumors about St. Mary's. I applied to 3 schools and will be ecstatic if I am accepted to any of them (UofH, St. Mary's, and STCL) I visited St. Mary's and it was by far my favorite in terms of the campus atmosphere. I was only concerned because of what I had been told I was worried about spending 3 years and 70k on a JD that would be worthless without accredidation. My fears were unfounded(as I now know) and I HOPE I get the chance to attend St. Mary's!

I live in Austin now and there are always problems with endangered salamanders. Barton springs is still open (although closed temporarily due to the flooding) As for how cold it get's in Lubbock REAL COLD. I grew up in a little town near Lubbock and it's not that the temperature is all that low, but the WIND CHILL is horrible. When it's between 15-20 F and the north wind is blowing 30 miles an hour The wind chill is like -20 f. THAT IS DAMED COLD and there is no way to stay warm as the wind cuts through your clothes no matter how many layers you have on. The weather is not even comparable to Austin. You might as well be in another hemisphere. Although with the cost and caliber of law school that Tech has it would be worth it to go there for three years if you didn't get into Baylor or UT. Cost of living in Lubbock is outrageously cheap as well. Good luck with your decision. And three cheers for TEXAS. Hip Hip Hooray!

I grew up in a little town near Lubbock and everyone in my HS went to school there. I being a rebel went to A&M. Anyway the climate really does suck there. My wife is from Houston and even though we would have a free house to live in there she will not move to Lubbock. It is flat, dry , and if you have allergies it is hell, If you don't have allergies you will by the time you graduate. As for the Law school in my opinion is a very good value. If you don't have the numbers for UT and want a much cheaper cost of living than Houston (Uof H) Tech is perfect. I did not apply there because i knew my wife would not move there. Here are my Texas Law school rankings
1. UT
3.Uof H
4 Tech (cheaper than SMU and probably same job prospects)
6 South Texas
7 Texas Weslyan (tie depending on whether you want to live in Dallas of San Antonio)
7. St. Mary's (tie depending on whether you want to live in Dallas of San Antonio)
8 Texas Southern
This is not based on any scientific reasoning just my very humble personal opinion.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: warm fuzzy acceptance stories

I would be happy to even post a cold hard rejection story right now!

Congrats Maroon out! And think if you go there then when people make fun of Baylor beating us this year you can say "hey it's ok I go to law school at Baylor!" Too bad South Texas and St. Mary's don't have Big 12 football teams!

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Plan B

My plan B is to keep trying. Not getting into any law school is a very real scenario for me, yet I will continue to try. Sooner or later they will say ( haven't we seen this same guy the last 6 years, man he is persistant, lets just go ahead and admit him.) I have a sub 2.5 GPA and there is no way I am calling it quits.
