Denials / Re: Most Obnoxious Rejection Letter
« on: April 13, 2005, 04:08:17 PM »
UC-Hastings had an a-hole one last year: "We are in the enviable position of having to reject many qualified applicants." This was after I was sent an e-mail acceptance and later told by letter that I had been rejected.

Wait List / Re: Hastings Waitlist

My status date changed on 8/4 and I got my rejection letter today. It's a let-down, but I should have expected it. In any case, good luck to all those who got into Hastings and especially those who didn't. I guess it's time to get serious about the move to Philly and the law school I'll be attending for at least a year.

Yep, no status date change and no letter. I ended up getting a sublet for the month of August in Philadelphia in the hopes that there is still a chance at Hastings. That way, I won't have to worry about a full-year lease in the off-chance I get in. It might be more of a hassle, but I guess I'm just still a wishful thinker! :)

Hey law school girl, are you going to go? Congratulations!

As for me, I haven't gotten a letter rejecting me from the waitlist yet. I guess that's a good sign, but it's still so nerve-wracking. Anyone else still waiting for a letter/call?

Sorry to hear, neverends... I still haven't received anything yet. Has anyone else heard news, good or bad? I'm headed to Philly at the end of the week to get started (late) on apartment hunting and keeping my fingers crossed that I don't hear from Hastings before I sign a lease.

I'm going to Temple if I don't hear from Hastings. I live in Boston right now and I'm planning to go apartment hunting next week in Philly, but have been procrastinating just because I'm not all that excited about going there. My boyfriend is attending UCSF med school and I was hoping that we'd both be in San Fran... Not to mention that Hastings is the better school by far. What about you, neverends?

Yeah, I haven't checked mine since May either, and it still has my April "decision" date listed.

neverends, I'm a believer in cautious optimism. It might just be a glitch, particularly since 7/11 is on a Sunday, like julka noted. So try to keep the faith until the letter arrives.

In my case, I think the odds are against an acceptance, but unfortunately, I've been putting off apartment hunting near the school that I will attend if I'm not taken off the Hastings waitlist. I'm reluctant to sign a lease if I have to jump ship at last minute... Anyone else in the same situation?

Get2knowU, maybe it's a good sign we haven't gotten a letter yet(?) They'll probably send letters only to those who they decide to reject from the waitlist and just keep the rest in suspense like they've been doing. I just wish I knew one way or the other.

So I just called the Hastings admissions office. And while it was my first time calling the office, it seems many others have been liberal with their phone calls. At least that's the impression I got from the long pause and semi-sigh between me asking to talk about the wait-list and the receptionist's reply.

In any case, there's no new information except that they made offers in June, but haven't made many in July as of yet. However, she said she expects the college to make a "good amount" of offers within the next three weeks.

So, there's a bit of hope for us, if not very specific.

I got wait-listed in late May and I haven't heard a thing from them. This feels like law school purgatory.

Same for me. Got waitlisted in April and haven't heard anything from them. I'm probably going to call on Monday, though I'm not expecting to hear anything different. Just figured I should make myself known before I begin making my plans to move to Philadelphia instead.

By the way, Smyles, I was also put on the LEOP waitlist which I hope is not contigent on a LEOP admittee (as opposed to any admittee) declining admission last minute. I let them know that I would also like to be considered on the regular waitlist as I'm not dead set on being in the program, but just thought it would help my chances of admission. I'm going to try to find out more information when I call on Monday.
