General Off-Topic Board / What is your theme song?
« on: July 12, 2006, 11:21:10 AM »
At the moment, for life, whatever... what song do you identify with the most?

Post the lyrics if you'd like.

My theme song for life is "Make Yourself" by Incubus.  I would post the lyrics, but I already posted them at least once in the random lyrics thread.  :D

General Off-Topic Board / LSD Sims
« on: June 19, 2006, 10:11:30 AM »
I'll change the title to something more interesting later, but in this thread, those of us who prefer to sit atop the altar of nerdiness will discuss our LSD Sim neighborhoods and talk about what's going on with those crazy kids.

Once upon a time, there were three lovely ladies of LSD named Chica, KJ, and Melanie.  They all liked to drink... and... post on LSD... and... do other stuff, so they had so much in common that they became fast friends.  Their fondness for each other led them to make future plans to live together one day, in a scary house on a hill, with many cat friends.  (NOTE: No children allowed)

Many people want to join Chica, KJ, and Melanie in the compound.  Here, we discuss our happy times in the compound and deem others worthy of admission.

Please tell me this thread will not become lonely and sad because I'm the only one.

I have a few people and things I need to thank on this special, special occasion.

To William & Mary Law School:  Thank you, my dears, for placing me on the waiting list.  If I had been rejected, I would never have started trying to find out info about my chances by frantically searching online, and I never would have stumbled upon the wonderful land of LSD.  None of this would have happened without your generosity in not rejecting me outright, and I would have ended my application cycle in the same blissful ignorance in which it began.

To my TV:  Thank you for beginning to die in March, forcing me to find something else to do with my normal TV-watching time.  If it weren't for your slow death, my excessive postwhoring would never have been possible.

To my coworkers:  Thank you for all being at least 20 years older than me, preventing me from forming any useful social life with my colleagues.  I also thank my job for giving me so little to do, allowing me to LSD all day at work.

To Duck:  Thank you for setting a shining example with all your postwhoring and for sucking me into the OTB once I landed here.

To Props:  Thank you for selecting me as queen of the p-dub club.  All my posts about our hypothetical good times at Alabama would never have happened without you.  :-* :-*

To all the other p-dubbers:  Without your stimulating postwhoring, I would never have reached this goal so quickly.  Specifically I have to thank KJ for being my non-biological twin and for postwhoring so much during working hours, but all of you (and the fabulous p-dub club thread) assisted in my rapid ascent to 5k.

To Thou and his Lounge:  Thank you for your thought (and post)-provoking polls, and for starting the Skypefests. :D

And thanks to everyone else on the OTB who made this possible.   :-*

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I should also add that this day, Memorial Day, will always hold fond memories for me as the day I hit LSD Obsessed.  :D :D

General Off-Topic Board / The Recipe Thread
« on: May 28, 2006, 05:20:22 PM »
For Em:

Butterbeer

1 pint vanilla cream, softened
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter, at room temperature
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 bottle (3 cups) sparkling apple cider

Allow ice cream to soften, about 30 minutes, and bring butter to room temperature, about 2 hours.

Cream together butter, sugar and spices in large bowl.  Add to ice cream and refreeze.  Heat sparkling cider in a pot until warm but still carbonated (at least 3 minutes).  Fill each glass with a generous scoop of ice cream mixture and pour warmed cider over ice cream.  It will foam like beer, hence the name.

I did not use the butter and substituted butter pecan ice cream instead.  ;)

I also have a recipe for pumpkin pasties if you like the Harry Potter theme.

General Off-Topic Board / Do you sing along to music while driving?
« on: May 20, 2006, 01:32:48 PM »
I sing/scream along to music in my car, which I'm sure is a source of entertainment to many other drivers.  ;)

If you do sing in your car, what are your favorite songs/CDs to sing along with, and do you actually sing the lyrics or scream jumbled words?
