Yea, I'm selling books too--I have a fresh Property book for those in briffault's section (and fresh bc i rarely went to class and i barely read the txt).

also, i have the 3 Crunctimes--Crim, Property, and Con Law.

and i'm selling Tort Law and Alternatives (if that's being used)

PM or email me (email is preferable, and I believe that most of you know who I am to be able to find me via email)

My apps are almost ready to "go," but I'm unsure about sending my diversity statement to U of Chi and Yale because of conflicting info. Both schools (I called the admissions ofcs) say they accept diversity statements; however, I've heard there's no guarantee that they'll read them.

Is this true?

send them...if they don't want to read them, they won't.  i didn't apply to YLS, but i did apply to chi, and adding a ds didn't hurt me with them.

In at Chicago, ED.

Why did you ED at Chicago?  Just curious... You probably would've gotten into HYS and money at all of CCN.

ehhh the lowest accepted Harvard I've really seen (URM) is 165/166. I have no softs to speak of, either. Yale would probably be out too. And between CCN, it's personal preference, and I like Chicago's clerkship and academic prestige. Also, small classes.

Maybe Chicago will still give me money. They still need highly qualified blacks at the school... and there's nothing stopping me from not attending this year altogether if I can't afford it.

They really have no incentive to give you money now.  You probably would've gotten the 64K if you held out.

As far as Harvard, you should've asked around.  I know of 2 black males that got in last year with 163s.  And GPAs MUCH lower than yours.  I'm talking 3.4 ish.  And no strong softs to speak of.  But Chicago is a cool school.  I just hope you fit into the atmosphere there.  Good luck.

Yea, I agree with this. They really have no reason to give you money, since you are technically bound to come.

He did:

Top 10, focusing on CCN.

I only have 8 months post-grad work experience. Should I still pursue Northwestern?

Probably not.

(BTW, I have a 3.92, not 3.91 like I posted before. Oops).

Also, yes/no HYS?

Yes, you should apply.  I just wouldn't call them targets.  You have a decent chance at Harvard.

Had I seen this in the Chances thread, I would have told him he had a good shot at HLS, even if that shot came from getting in off the WL.  HLS takes tons of black students (3.8+ gpa) off the wl around May/June.

Regardless, Chi is cool, I almost went there.

How do you like Columbia's apartments?  (I assume most people live in them, right?)  They seem like a good deal.  Which housing preferences would you recommend to get the most bang for your buck (with regard to size, location, and price)?

i live in regular Columbia university housing and i love it.  my apartment is very spacious, and the rent is very reasonable.

i think housing is pretty much the luck of the draw, but you have to be specific about what you would like to have.  also, i didn't want law school housing--i'm sorry, but being around law students 24/7 was not something i wanted.

oh, and lenfest is nothing but an overpriced glorified hotel...but, if you have money to burn, i guess you could go for it.

Do you feel like you get lost in the crowd, since the school is on the bigger side? Did you prefer to go to a bigger school? Why did you choose Columbia over other law schools?

Lots of questions... :P
Personally, I don't feel that the school is on the bigger size--we have like 370 students per year.  I like the number--not too big (like HLS and GULC) but not too small (like Chicago).

If you didn't go to CLS, what school would you have picked instead?
Probably Chicago...

3L any advice for my first Ks exam tomorrow? :p

Good luck Cabra!

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Georgetown vs. American/Catholic

10k is such a small difference...i say GULC.  you never know if your aspirations will change while in school, and GULC will keep more doors open.

Nah,Lisa is one of the worst...I don't trust her at all.  You can tell that she's a liar from her rant at Kim on the show, where she blew the whole thing out of proportion (though, I'll give her some leeway bc Kim was talking about how she lost custody of her kids).  But, Lisa is suspect--the whole time she was telling NeNe to be nice, yet she's over there keekee-ing with Sheree and Kim when they talked about NeNe. Those businesses that she has are ridiculously suspect.  Have you seen her websites?  Lawd, have mercy, if I was her, I'd be concerned about the impression that she gives, because personally, I'd never do business with her.  She's filed for bankruptcy, she owes her ex hubby keith Sweat mad money, etc...she's just messy.

That said, I'd hang out with her before Sheree and Kim.

First bolded---Bravo did something very strange with the editing so that the whole thing with Lisa snapping came off really strange.  Not sure what, but they definitely did something.

Second bolded (word!).  Just because you have businesses, doesn't make you a bona fide business person.  Hell, I can form an LLC tomorrow if I wanted to (and had $500).  And, none of those businesses seemed like truly viable money makers (real estate, jewelry, baby clothes)--nope.  Furthermore, Lisa at one point said that she didn't want her injured football husband to play for the money because it "wasn't about the money." riiight.  :-\ :-\ :-\

So, I don't know if Lisa brought up the custody thing at the reunion, but there was definitely drama between she and Kim on that issue--which is why I think that Lisa was extra angry at Kim--considering the fact that we never even saw them hang out one on one.

And yea, Lisa was mad trifling with the whole Ed/Raiders thing.  I was dead during the finale when I saw the caption "Ed was released from the Raiders...much to Lisa's relief."  She's mad un-supportive.

DeShawn is my second fav.  Lisa is barely tolerable...

 :o

explain this reaction.

Lol I feel the exact opposite...Lisa is so on top of her ish and put-together.  She's my favorite.  Deshawn...meh.  She needs to learn how to talk.  I put her above Kim and Sheree, but below Lisa and Nene.
