2L job search / Re: Federal Public Defender - worthwhile?
« on: August 24, 2011, 10:42:08 AM »
I agree that the Fed PD would be a great internship for you, if that's the direction that you want to go in. However, if you are wanting to go into the prosecution side of thing, this can potentially work against you. Furthermore, if this is the case, you would be better off finding a internship with the DA, since this would be more applicable to your desired field, and you would get a lot more valuable real world experience.

Unfortunately, I believe that your dreads will drastically limit your chances of getting into a reputable firm. For the vast majority of firms, image and professionalism is very important. It is sad that you may be overlooked because of your hairstyle, but I am afraid that this is the grim reality. However, if it is worth it to you to keep your dreads, I am sure that if you are a good lawyer, and are persistent about finding a good firm who will accept you as you are, I think you can find one eventually, but it will be much more difficult. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of Chrysalis School Montana? I am considering sending my daughter there, and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this school. Thanks you.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: CUNY or Pace?
« on: August 24, 2011, 10:20:44 AM »
Dont take any advice from this forum at face value, not mine, not anyone.  You need to do your research and reach your decision.  You can use opinions provided here as a guide, but dont take the information at face value.

I dont post this to be a jerk.  Think long and hard about the decision to go to law school.  Go in with eyes wide open.  Read my posts on this thread.

I am not saying don't go, just that you should have all the facts and consider all of the angles before taking the $100K plunge.

I am deciding if I should go to CUNY or Pace. When compared to Pace, CUNY seems better since my debt will be far less and the average salary seems to be the same for both schools. However, Pace has a really great environmental law program and I thought they were rising in the ranks. How are the job prospects and environment compared to each other? I want to know all the pros and cons. I've been doing a lot of research already, but I would like some useful input.

I think this is great advice. It is good to get a sense of other peoples opinions, but your decision should be mostly based on factual information I think. Do your research, and see which school is a better fit for you based on what it is you want to achieve. I have a question, I am looking for a good school for my daughter, and was wondering if anyone has ever heard of chrysalisschoolmontana.com? Do you think it is a good school? Thanks.
