Studying for the LSAT / Took first practice LSAT cold... How much can I go up?

I bought an LSAT prep book yesterday and did a few practice problems for each section. I gave myself a full-length test today with timing and got a 163.  How much can people really improve?  I am hoping for high 160s, low 170s on the real LSAT.  How realistic is this if I do some actual studying?

What was your starting (practice) score and what did you end up with on the real test?
