jubilee--I am totally with you on that partial scholarship, still tight thing :)

what great advice from everyone. If I don't hear from Seattle or OSU before the 15th, Willamette is for sure getting my deposit. I have always loved the Pac. Northwest, and I have a good idea of the reputation now. Oh man. Such a big decision. I should have applied earlier.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: In at Willamette

I suppose, if you don't want to waste your time, that's a fine attitude :)

Whereas I am so obsessed, it is better than just spazzing at work all day. After all, it will be good practice for actual law!

definitely. Have you decided yet? I talked to Seattle's asst. dean of admissions today and she said they are very behind--still reviewing applications from the beginning of February. If you haven't decided, where are you considering?

My big prob--my grandfather went to Cleveland Marshall, one of the schools I got in. I don't want to live near home, I'm thinking west coast (exception: Ohio State) So it will break his heart I am afraid, especially because he spent hours editing my personal statement and was so excited!

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Willamette Visit

I am going to write willamette an up-your-offer email tonight... I'll let you all know how that works out for me.

just heard from Seattle's assistant director of admissions after writing an email saying where are you guys in your process...

Currrently we're in a bit of a mail lag as we approach the application deadline.  As file are received in the mail and downloaded, they are date stamped.  When we reach that date stamp in the mail processing, that is when your materials are processed and updated online.  It looks like the last movement on your file was 3/3 with receipt of the LSDAS report electronically.  Typically, it takes another 10 days to receive the paper version in the mail and we are also in about a 10-14 day mail lag.

Thanks for your patience.  If anything is missing in your application, you will receive an email alert.

All the best!

Hope this info helps someone who is agonizing about Seattle.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: contacting the school?
« on: March 29, 2006, 02:28:31 PM »
I think I would send a non-threatening email...

"I am excited to hear from you regarding admission as I will soon be making a decision as to where to attend... if there is any further information you may require, please feel free to contact me...My current information is as follows... blahblahblah..."

well maybe not that last part. But if you send a friendly email that doesn't DEMAND any response but serves as a reminder of your interest they can't really be bothered, right? Correct me if I am wrong.

So here's the deal: I was deferred at Lewis & Clark. But I have no idea what that means, other than they are one of the 3 schools that have actually responded to me--(2 others, acceptances) They claim they will give me some kind of answer at the end of April or beginning of May.

My question, before I send in a deposit to one of the schools that can make up their minds, what can I expect with a deferral? Do they usually substitute for waitlists until they hear from more admits, thus likely resulting in admissions? Or are they just as likely to result in a rejection?

Yep, I think it is a bit inconsiderate. But I suppose we are entirely at their mercy so oh well.

At this rate, I'm on to Willamette
