our attorney at work whose a partner in a firm actually snickered and said something like "if you don't get in anywhere you could always go to kent." at the same time, he encouraged me to apply to loyola.
Then your attorney at work doesn't know his elbows from his...um...you know. Kent is pretty much as tough to get into as Loyola. Perhaps he was thinking of John Marshall...but wow, still a very condescending and uneducated thing to say about any school. Man...what would he say if Kent rejected you and Loyola offered? Because it happens.
I've spoken to a few lawyers who've been around a while, and I've pretty much learned 99% of what is said on here is junk (including what some current students throw out there). Go to school in the region where you want to practice? Bogus (unless you're a lazy job hunter). High ranking = better salary? Bogus (unless you're a bad student).
Go to whatever school you like. Kent has awesome facilities and a great faculty. Loyola felt stodgy and stiff and...well...Catholic to me. To each his own.
it was designed by frank gehry (which means my next comments are obvious). http://www.publicartinla.com/sculptures/loyola.html
its ugly. it is a fortress. it is cold. it looks like my high school.
