I really like Temple but I would be dealing with Tier 1 vs. Tier 2. Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Where do you want to practice? 3

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Minnesota vs Pepperdine vs University of San Diego« on: April 10, 2008, 06:38:29 PM »Yeah I went to UCLA... as far as Minnesota goes, I would absolutely want to practice in CA. So I guess eventhough there ranking is higher, I would be better off at Pepperdine. Hopefully I get into Hastings. Minnesota is not going to do a good job of getting you to CA. Pepperdine seems like the right choice unless Hastings comes through. 5

After reading through your goals, it seems like WashU would be the obvious choice for you. You want to be able to work in Chi-town or Saint Louis, you want to have good options coming out of school, and you want to one day work in-house for a medical entity. It sounds to me like having debt is making you nervous and you are trying to rationalize turning down WashU to go to SLU. You only make this choice once and you don't want to regret passing up an amazing school. 6

According to Martindale, BU has 6 associates in Philly with 5 years or less experience. Placing one associate per year in Philly is not so great. 8

This is somewhat good news to me since it is not a rejection. I live 45 minutes from Ithaca, so I am going to see if I can go down to Myron Taylor and have a face-to-face with someone. Good for you. Where should I go next fall? / Re: BC vs. Money« on: March 28, 2008, 09:56:32 PM »so as everyone probably knows, i really have my heart set on bc for the fall. i just checked my fin aid package, however, and it's not so great. i have other schools that have offered me money, and at this point, i'm freaked out at having to take out so many loans, especially with my interest in pursuing a career in public interest. i still have loans from undergrad, my parents are not supporting me in law school (my dad isn't really even employed and my sister is still in ug herself). i don't know if bc will come through with merit money. there's also a private scholarship from my ug for which i'm applying, but again, nothing is a guarantee. should i just throw caution to the wind, say eff it, and go for bc, and work my tail off for any scholarship opportunities which might come my way? or should i consider some of the lower ranked schools who are throwing money in my face? This is a tough call. IMO, BC is not 75k better than Tulane. This seems especially true when you consider that your goal is to have little debt and to work in public interest. But, if BC really is your top choice, maybe you should try to push for those scholarships |
