I'm focusing my bids on NYC.

Yeah, I'm thinking it may have been a mistake to bid on so many DC firms.  I'm afraid the mix of the two markets will mean I don't get what I want anywhere.  I guess we'll see...

Get the best GPA you can.

Beyond that, enjoy college!  It should be a fabulous life experience, and it would be a tragic waste if you spent the entire four years doing only what you needed to do to get into a good law school at the expense of other things.

At CLS, we only have required classes during first year.  They are: Civ Pro, Contracts, Con Law, Criminal Law, Property, and Torts.

However, it seems that you are sort of expected to take corporations, tax, administrative law, and evidence at some point during law school.

I know the security clearance thing asks about drug use within the last year...I think it's probably a bad idea to withhold information there.  I'm not sure whether occasional marijuana use is an automatic ding, though...

Yeah, I think the key for scholarships is to be in the top 75% of a school's LSAT/GPA range, right?

That seems to be a guarantee. But I've also seen people with low GPAs get paid if they had an LSAT in the 75%+ range.

Yeah, true.
