You could always get a cheap netbook for the meantime.  They run for well under $300.

i know this is taboo, or whatever, but in order to gain perspective on how "fine" you'll be following this advice, how did you finish in your class lovebutton? 

I d-dubbed my last answer because it just looked douchey.  I'm not sure if there's a non-douchey way to answer this question, honestly, but I brought it on myself by referencing academic success.  For posterity's sake, I'd like to leave it at "I finished in the top chunk and made law review."  Is that illustrative enough?

bump again.  i can now safely say that first year was an academic, psychological, and social success and i kept this advice in my pocket the whole time.
