assuming you got a 165 on the real deal:

michigan - no shot
uva      - nope
g'town   - no

w&m      - reach
gmu      - in
w&l      - slight reach
gw       - reach
american - this is a safety/target
UGA      - this is a target, not a safety

USC      - this is your only true safety on the list, and the only one you'd be sure to get into.

hope this helps.

I disagree on Michigan.  I think they'd consider the OP if s/he had strong other credentials and a great diversity statement + why mich statement.  Michigan has always been good at looking at the whole applicant.

I don't think that I am neurotic at all.  I just am trying to get away from the constant discussions about huge salaries and big law firms around here.  For most people, it is unrealistic.  I think that the more visible (BIGLAW) portion of the profession gets too much attention, and many posts here are indicative of that.

If more law schools/pre-law advisors spoke realistically to students about career potential (and earning potential) more people who were going to law school because they aren't sure what else to do with that fabulous liberal arts degree would consider other options more seriously.

This is a valid point.  A post with substantive information to support your points may have inspired more discussion than a post asking people to think about something that you admit people are both in denial about and lack information to understand.

You asked people to "think about it."  Thinking =/= posting.  What did you expect people to do?

I'm amazed every day by the number of law students that have a complete lack of self-awareness.

That's weird that you'd do that, cause you totally haven't bragged about anything else the last month or so.

TITCR, though it's not clear to my why you aren't bragging more about your good news.

I think this is sarcasm?  Sorry if I'm being a feminine hygiene product.

And knowing is half the battle.

Nah, I kid.  We're all pretty tense right now.  I've had callbacks, no news.

Okay, I guess I deserve this.  Sorry again, I shouldn't have shared good news while people are still anxious...especially to folks who don't know me IRL and can't read my tone.  Won't happen again until we've all accepted offers :)

I'm still going to be in NYC for the next two days if anyone wants to get a beer on Friday or Saturday.  Just hanging out.  Promise not to talk law unless you bring it up.

I'm totally down, Wally.  I've never met you IRL.  How's Friday look?

I've been utterly unimpressed by the restaurants I've seen so far this recruiting season.

lol at the notion of a firm wasting money on resturants.  At my v50 callback, we got a small buffet and a fruit plate.

Well that's my point -- only one place has bothered, and it wasn't even anywhere particularly awesome (although tbf the firm is located in kind of a crappy area for restaurants in that city).

ONE place that will remain nameless mentioned that lunch would be included with morning CBs and then cancelled my lunch.

I am by no means complaining.  I actually think it's a disgustingly wasteful custom.  But it doesn't make me hopeful about getting an offer.  I mean, I highly doubt that these places have stopped lunches because they realized how ridiculous it is, but rather because they're in enough trouble that that relatively small expense matters.

I am TELLING you, if a place won't take you to lunch, send them to the bottom of your list if you can at all help it.  Seriously.

My places have all been pretty standard, but I do have to brag about this one lunch: http://www.le-bernardin.com/ .  As in, Chef Eric Ripert's restaurant :-)

I just ate at a restaurant in which my dessert featured yogurt sponge.

Law is awesome.

I don't like being single.

My grades actually shot way up second semester when I was seriously dating someone.

Okay, in fairness to the statistical side of my personality, I think it's important to note that most people experience an increase in their grades second semester.  However, knowing a bit more about the details, I'd say there may be a more significant correlation in your situation...

Damn, you guys are way ahead of us. We start OCI on Monday.

Please don't take all the jobs before we start, kthx.

you'll be fine. At least one of my firms is waiting until late September before they let ANYONE know about offers, and some of my firms won't schedule callbacks any earlier than September.

Still, seems like the earlier the OCI the better ITE.
