cut your penn acceptance up into hundreds of tiny pieces and set it on fire.
barring some overriding attachment to philly this decisions should solely be between NYU and Columbia.
Cady is correct that this is stupid advice. Granted, I'm not in law school but I can't imagine your life being infinitely worse if you choose to go to the fourth-best Ivy League law school instead of the third-best.
I don't say this based on personal beliefs. I worked in a V10 firm before going to law school. NYU/CLS/Harvard/Yale dominated the summer associate classes. I think there were two Penn attorneys in the entire firm, one of whom graduated first in his class. Law firms are very rigid in adhering to their prestige hierarchy and NYU and CLS are a definitive notch above Penn. I'm not saying that Penn is a bad school, in fact I'd be there now if I could. But with acceptances to CLS and NYU I wouldn't even consider Penn due to the reputation difference is has with employers.
There are a number of reasons for this that may not be related to the quality of the school/hiring practices.
Also, not everyone aspires to work at a V10 firm.
Also, I'll address this further when I'm not under a deadline.
