My Dell Latitute X1 should get here July 3rd. I used to like Macs, but I really don't like the scroll bar thing at the bottom they did, but apparently you can get rid of that. Oh well, I didn't want to worry about not being able to have IT support in school.

ABA has a medical plan available to students. The coverage isn't super but it seems to be more than a catastrophe plan. All that is required is a student aba membership which I was think of anyways.

Why not just give up all the "my numbers are better than your numbers" crap and realize that if we were all the same what a damn horribly boring world this would be.
And that being said...just remember you are always smarter than the people who come in to the bookstore and ask for a particular "arthor" or claim that the Da Vinci Code was one of the most challeging books they ever read. There are some damn stupid in this world(and who knows some of them may have gotten 3.5 in college...bible college...community college...beauty school) 15

Like Hyundai, they have recently refocused themselves on making quality stuff, and are now very reliable. NO. No. NO. And let me repeat no! My sister had an eMachine and had nothing but hell. The thing would randomly shut down, stay in start-up mode, or just freeze. They sent it in to get service at least 4 times! in 18 months. It may have been more but, I know it was at least four because they qualified for a replacement under Washington State's lemon laws. In addition if it is only sold at Walmart it wont be a good quality. Walmart tells their suppliers what cost they want to buy a product for and the company is left to figure out how to cut cost to get there. Cut costs (a lot of times) = poor quality Buy a Dell, buy an IBM...just don't buy one of these sketchy machines. 16

I've never taken class notes on a computer, and I am going to try, but a little voice in the back of my head is wonder if I'll probably end up handwritting notes since my typing isn't 100%. I wholeheartedly agree with the idea that transcription helps you retain info. At least it does for me too.

It seems in our family those of us with Dells(my mother, myself and more recently my sister) haven't had any problems. The rest of my family (my dad, grandfather, and again my sister) have had problems with their Apples, Compaqs and HP(the worst problems were with this computer...my sister had to submit a claim through WA lemon law it was so bad). I am looking at the Latitude X1 starting weight... 2.5 lbs.

Ummm as much as I love Portland....it isn't a "big city" by any means. Seattle is barely a big city. Seattle is Mayberry disguised as a metropolis.
