Anyone else in favor of a Constitutional Amendment to outlaw traditional gerrymandering and put all states on an Iowa type system?

Read this story:

My sister-in-law calls Sunday morning to tell me her friend's cousin had been arrested because they found a body in his car.  When the local news comes on at 12:00 I get the rest of the story but it's a weird one.

News Discussion / OJ 10 years on
« on: August 19, 2004, 01:19:45 PM »
Can you believe next year will mark the 10 year anniversary of the OJ Simpson Trial?  10 years and California still can't run a high profile trial correctly (see Scott Peterson).  Now let me toss this idea out for everyone.  Should the OJ case have even went to trial?  Did Robert Shapiro screw up the preliminary hearing and miss the chance to exclude all the evidence at OJ's house?   If that evidence was excluded was there enough at the crime scene to go forward with the case?

FBI monitoring political protests.  Hmm shouldn't they be searching for those terrorist cells they say are waiting to strike before the election?

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / 7 Steps to Disbarment

Step 1: Advise your client that he needs life insurance - and refer your husband to act as the agent without disclosing your relationship.

Step 2: At your grievance hearing, present the court with a forged document claiming that the client knew that your spouse was the insurance agent.

Step 3: Also at your grievance hearing, deny that you represented the client saying that you were retained instead by the client's wife.

Step 4: Even though you purport not to represent the client, file papers with the INS representing that you are his attorney.

Step 5: Make sure that the immigration application that you file with the INS is rejected.

Step 6: After your client retains new counsel and seeks return of his file from the INS, contact your congressional representative and the head of the INS and assert that your client's conduct was outragous.

Step 7: After your client tells you that he intends to file a grievance, tell his new attorney that doing so will increase the chance that such a filing will increase the likelihood of the FBI launching an investigation of the client (who is Egyptian) as a possible terrorist sympathizer.

Norwalk, Connecticut attorney Sherri Paige followed these steps and for her efforts received a one year suspension for her conduct. And you can too, if you try hard enough - because it seems like you'd have to try to be this stupid.

In the new book Judging Thomas, Scalia is quoted as saying that Thomas, "doesn't believe in stare decisis, period."
