Law School Applications / Re: Reject on basis of optional essay?
« on: February 21, 2006, 11:08:09 AM »
I'm only speaking from intuition here, but I would say just taking the time to write an optional essay scores points. I don't think they expect it to be as impressive as your personal statement.

We can analyze our apps all day long, but...they're out there, and they're done. Just give yourself a pat on the back for the good work and don't stress too much over the details. Easier said than done, I know. I've gone over all my apps twice after submitting them.  :-\

I have filled out alot of apps, and upon review I would notice typos in the application answers or in my personal statment. I have submitted corrections to the schools. Will this negatively affect the review of my file. I'm not sure I want to know the answer to this.  :-[

i really hate to be the one to break this to you...it's like finding out santa doesn't exist...they keep EVERYTHING you send.

it's ALMOST to your disadvantage to resumit something because it MAY highlight the mistake instead of hide it.

hey, if a school has 4000 applications to read, do you REALLY think they will notice a MINOR mistake?

now, if you said, "harvard is my number one choice" in your PS to Chapel Hill, then i say...you're screwed. :-[

I know...When I spoke to the admissions folk, they said they keep everything. sucks. Se la vi. No major mistakes. Just a mispelled word here and there, and in one instance a pronoun was out of place. I'm hoping they don't focus on them too much.

That's encouraging. Thanks. When you update your file through LSDAS, I think it updates saved apps across common fields (ie. highschool diploma date and extra-curriculars). When I updated one app incorrectly, I think it changed my answer in a common field in a previously saved app. I have not called LSAC to verify that this can happen, but I'm almost positive I did not type in the same error on two different apps.
