So what do I get?

Where do Thais and Sri Lankans fall in that?

Wow, if a girl asked me if I was going to marry her after 2 months I would probably tell her to hold that thought, that I had left my phone in my car... and then smoke the tires while attempting to get away... you are quite the man

Maybe Papa Bear felt the same way about her. I hear it happens to a rare few people. I wish I were that lucky.

*wonders if she should get out of the "guys" thread*

Hey, I just noticed this so Im gonna hijack the thread... you are my female URM numbers twin... well.. I got 3 LSAT points on you and you got .1 GPA on me... but its pretty close

I don't think this thread is particularly "topic conscious" lol.

3 LSAT points is a big deal! I wish I had 3 more for me! .1 GPA sooo not a big deal. Do you have the weird LSAC/Degree GPA split, too?

So are you going to join me at WCL? :)

My real GPA is somewhere around a 2.8... but we have a couple chances to retake a class and discount the old grade, so those are in my LSAC GPA.

Im not gonna get in at American, though I did send back the WL letter... Im not sure if Id go even if I got in.  Im a warm weather boy and not into international law... but it IS in DC, which would help if I did patent law... who knows... we'll cross that bridge if we come to it I guess

Well, good luck!! Sounds exciting (patent law). Warm weather? You should have applied to Houston ;) hehe.

On that note, I'm off to bed. It's late!

I know I would be happier at UVA but I just dont want the debt thing to be a distraction. I want to be able to really relax and enjoy learning law instead of constantly thinking about getting a high paying job after school. I just dont like restrictions. I know I want to clerk and I would really love to teach after. UVA would obviously give me an edge in this category but I would definitely have to work in private practice for a while before at least the latter route.

An aspect that is pushing me toward UVA is the higher probability of attaining summer jobs which will give me an early chunk with which to chip away at the debt.

News flash ... pretty much everyone has to pay their dues and work their way to doing what they really love. So the first 5 - 10 years won't be ideal. But the next 30 might be!

i'm glad it makes you happy when a man will pump your gas for you.  that makes me happy knowing it makes you happy.

In fact, I was out with a friend of mine last weekend and I was -totally- out of gas and had to pull over. He immediately got out to pump for me (we used my card). That was Saturday. I was still so tickled by it on Monday that I gave him a huge hug and kiss for it when I saw him. *sheepish shrug*

Do you pump the gas for a woman when you are riding with her and she pulls up to a gas pump?  if you don't I already don't like you.  end of story.

and for the women who clicked this thread despite the title: if you are with a man and you pull up to a gas pump and he doesn't get out, just leave him as soon as you can.

Ooooooohhhhhhh ... I <3 a guy who will pump gas for me!!!

I hate pumping gas. I don't know why, but it really just annoys me. Of course I am perfectly capable of doing it myself. And of course I dont expect a guy to do it for me. And I would by no means be angry or resentful if he didnt.  It's a little thing, but I think it's the sweetest thing if he does. Maybe I'm just easy to please.

Quite possibly you will find a job where you can make great money AND love it. Also, you can find other things in your life to fulfill you - pro bono work, family, etc.

I was (okay, I AM) having a problem deciding between the school I really want to go to and the one that would be waaaaay cheaper but still fairly comprable rankings-wise. One of my professors said to me, "Go where you will be happy. You can always make the money back, but you can never get your time back."

I know that's not much help, but that's what I keep telling myself as I stare $170K debt in the face. *shrug*

Good luck!

Then again, I10 SUCKS no matter WHAT time of day you decide to venture out that way.  No offense to anyone who lives in Katy...

Yep That and 610 will never be right no matter HOW many lanes they throw on those Highways

You can get to Katy by taking the Westpark tollway now, which is absolutely freaking fabulous. Get an EZ tag and take the toll road, avoid nasty I-10 traffic.

I say again -- Live inside the loop if at all possible!! There are great housing options, there's really no need to move soooo far out. Take out an extra $150/month in loans if you must. That's my take.
