Since we've switched to talking about what to put in a resume ...

I took a "Business French" class during the semester I was in France. It was taught in french by a frechwoman so I'm going to take her word on it. We had a session where we had to make "frech resumes" for ourselves.

We were to list name, address, phone, email, DOB, marital status, number of children. During an interview we were told to be prepared to answer who the primary care giver for the children is and where they go during the day if you're at work and if you're planning on having any MORE children. There was a spot on the resume itself where we were told to affix a current picture.

And we were told that if a cover letter is mailed (and not emailed) it should be handwritten! She said in the past large companies liked to send them off to have the handwriting analyzed. Not so common today, but the handwritten cover letters still happen.

No one asked me, but it all blew my mind so I thought I'd share. :)  One of the most intersting classes I've taken in UG is an "intercultural issues" class where we spent some time talking about business issues that arise when doing international work because of things just like this. It was cool!

That's so crazy! I'm actually hoping to be renting the basement apartment to that house (which is why I took a picture of it!), so keep your fingers crossed for me, it's ideal for what I'm looking for!

And Josh - if you read through the rest of this thread, there's lots of discussion about where to live. Mostly around the first few pages, I believe.

That said, remember that your first year there you can't park on campus or in the surrounding neighborhood. So, you'll have to find some other way to get there. There are options: 1. You can live somewhere along the N bus lines which stop right in front of the law school. This seems the most convenient to me, especially if you live close to the stop because it would require the least amount of time. 2. Another option is to live along the red metro line like was suggested above and get off at the Tenleytown-AU exit. From there you would need to wait for the AU shuttle that passes by every 15 mins and takes you first to the main campus and then 6 blocks up the street to the law school.  3. Another option is to drive in and park in the commuter lot near the main campus. From there you could either walk (kind of a hike, especially if it's snowing or cold!) or wait for the shuttle which comes on the hour in the morning and a little more sparsely in the afternoon/evening (you might want to check with the school about specific times because the people during my information session didnt know for sure).

Oh! And I just noticed that only for the first page of my pictures did the labels actually take! Y'all have no idea what you're looking at after that. Oops. I'm gonna go edit that right now, sorry!

There are about 70 pictures back there (don't worry, they load fast!), so you might get more than you really wanted. It's there, anyway, and you can just skip the ones you don't want to see (like the hallway!). Some pictures have a little more explanation once you actually click on them.

If your plans are to get into a better school then retaking the LSAT is your best option. Why is it not possible?

If you plan to work in Miami, then you should go to St. Thomas. And work your butt off so you can be a star there. Figure out what kind of job you want to get in Miami. I know people who definitely don't want to work in a large firm, and you will definitely find good boutique-sized jobs if you do well at a regional T4. Just be sure your expected salary range will be enough to cover the expected loan repayments.
