Are any of you going to do the graduate PLUS loan? I think I want to, but the interest rate is 8.5%, which seems to be a bit high. I just dont want to ask my dad to cosign on a loan for me, eventhough I know my interest rate would be a lot lower. What do you all think?

So I am at this bar last night and I start talking to friend and the conversation leads to my plans for next year. I tell him that I am going to law school and he replies "My friend is a lawyer, shes right over there!" He calls her over and of course within the first 5 seconds she asks me where I am going to law school and I tell her and shes says "Emory has a law school?" Initially I am offended and surprised but then I ask her where she went to law school and she replies "Thomas Cooley." I dont hate on cooley like the majority of the people on this site, but as soon as she said that I was not surprised or offended anymore that she hasnt heard of emory. Just thought I'd share that story with my classmates.

p.s. this happened in cocoa beach, florida ... 7 hours away from emory.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Mercer or Wake Forest

Congrats on the Woodruff. I'd take it in a flash, even over UGA or Emory if you want to practice in state.  Mercer goes out of their way to hook Woodruff Scholars up w/ the best clerkships, etc.

I would have to disagree with this statement. I would not take Mercer over UGA and Emory. If Mercer, Wake, UGA, and Emory were the choices, Emory would be the top choice. However if Emory offered no money, the next choice would be UGA (even with no money assuming the OP is a GA resident). Mercer cant compete with UGAs alumni connections to ATL and Emorys reputation.

If you don't mind me asking Dennycrane, what was it that swayed you into deciding upon Clairmont?

I am choosing clairmont for the convenience. Thats basically it. This summer I really dont feel like finding a roomate, signing a 12 month lease and not knowing if ill be there next summer (and if im not then I would have to try to find a subleaser, which is a royal pain in the ass). The fact that the rent includes everything is a big draw, it simplifies my life. Living on campus will keep me in the school mindset more so then if I lived elsewhere (this is my case, may not be for others) which could translate to more studying. I dont have to buy a parking decal. I have a kickass gym and pool a stones throw away. I can sleep an extra twenty minutes because I wont have to search for a parking spot before class. Granted I am aware of the drawbacks, but I felt like i was jumping into something at briarcliff that I was not ready for.

So I was been set on Post Briarcliff ever since the admitted students day in april, however that has changed. After a long discussion with my parents and weighing the pros and cons, I have decided that clairmont is the place for me. Where are all my clairmont people?
