Peronsally I love writing Valentine's Day cards because it allows me to be sweet without pretensions because it's Valentine's Day. However, I don't like taking girls out on actual dates (when I have actual dates) because it feels like everybody is doing it, and usually I want something like that to be special. Thoughts?

Twenty-one years ago no one could have foreseen the ray of sunshine that mpark would come to be in the lives of everyone she met. Now thanks to her advanced age she can finally spread this sunshine into dive bars and liquor stores alike.
Happy Birthday mpark!

The two dates are Feb 28-Mar 1 and March 28-29.
I will probably be going to the February 28-Mar 1 one.

23 years ago today our dear Strad was born. The fervor of my birthday wishes for her is outweighed only by the gratitude I feel for her parents, who could not have foreseen that their copulation in mid-1983 would come to effect such delight inside all our hearts.

Since Title IX came into effect in 1972, the number of young women participating in athletics has increased astronomically. Furthermore, young women today seem to care much more about their physical appearance in terms of appearing athletic and toned--traits that have not always been associated with attractiveness in females. It used to be that men were thought to be the athletic, quick, and strong ones, but now these traits are becoming more desirable in women.
You might think that this development would be a positive force for the cause of women, but is it? I recently walked into the gym at school and looked over the elliptical machines to see literally dozens of girls--all with their hair back in ponytails, all furiously working to trim those two or three excess pounds off their legs in order to attain that perfect athletic figure. Are they working to develop their own fitness and their own health, or are they working in order to impress the guys? If it is the latter (which in many instances I suspect it is), is this really a healthy thing for women to be doing to themselves? Where do you draw the the line between expressing yourself through athletics, as opposed to living up to the expectations of others?

In preparation for tonight's season premiere of the sixth season of 24, around which I will be building my life for the next five months.
Jack is in China now...how will he return to California in time to save the continental United States within 24 hours? Supposedly Chloe is hot? Who is watching 24??

In honor of mpark and AnnaB...
J and halfie:
I realize that controversial subjects such as pronoun usage and ultimate frisbee have derailed our relationships, but I really think that if we ignored these differences of opinion, we could be friends.
I also realize that you could be annoyed by my constant flirtations with female members of the board, but please--take these with a grain of salt. It's all in good fun, and you would be better off either ignoring me or making snide but good-hearted remarks.
So in conclusion, I propose that we start anew and forgive recent misgivings in an effort to make the LSD off-topic board a more relaxed place for all.

Uh, so I've been pretty bored over Christmas break. Everyone enjoy! PM me for the answers.
Eight of the most prestigious students imaginable are all applying to Princeton Law School. These students’ names are Miss P, goalie, Brito, Jer, Liz, Shanny, demingh, and cal. A student can either be accepted or denied admission to Princeton Law. These are the only two options. Only students who are accepted will be eligible to apply for the uber-prestigious “Space Law” program, offered only at Princeton Law.
If Liz is not accepted at Princeton Law, then Brito must be permitted to study Space Law.
If Shanny or Brito is accepted to Princeton Law, then Goalie is not accepted to Princeton Law.
Shanny and demingh cannot both be accepted at Princeton Law.
If Cal is accepted at Princeton Law, then Miss P is the only student permitted to study Space Law.
No more than half of the students in question who are accepted at Princeton Law will be permitted to study Space Law.
1. Which of the following is an acceptable list of all the students who could be denied admission at Princeton Law?
A) Shanny, Miss P, Brito, Liz, cal
B) Demingh, Liz, goalie, Jer
C) Demingh, Shanny, Jer, Cal
D) Demingh, Shanny, cal, goalie
E) Cal, Miss P, Brito, Jer, goalie
2. If Liz is denied admission to Princeton Law, which of the following must be false?
A) Either Shanny or demingh MUST be admitted to Princeton Law
B) Exactly one person is permitted to study Space Law
C) Exactly two people are permitted to study Space Law
D) Jer is admitted to Princeton Law
E) Cal is admitted to Princeton Law
3. What is the maximum number of these students who could be permitted to study Space Law at the same time?
4. If Cal is accepted to Princeton Law, each of the following could be true EXCEPT?
A) Brito is accepted to Princeton Law.
B) Demingh is accepted to Princeton Law.
C) Shanny is accepted to Princeton Law.
D) Liz is denied admission to Princeton Law.
E) Jer is accepted to Princeton Law but is not permitted to study Space Law.
5. If goalie is permitted to study Space Law, which of the following is an acceptable list of all those who could be accepted at Princeton Law?
A) Goalie, Jer, Miss P, Demingh
B) Goalie, Miss P, Demingh, Cal
C) Goalie, Liz, Demingh, Jer, Miss P
D) Goalie, Liz, Demingh, Jer, Brito
E) Goalie, Liz, Jer, Cal, Demingh
6. If Brito is permitted to study Space Law, which of the following could be true?
A) Cal is accepted at Princeton Law
B) Liz is accepted at Princeton Law
C) Six people are accepted at Princeton Law
D) Seven people are accepted at Princeton Law
E) Goalie is accepted at Princeton Law
7. If Princeton Law adds a “waitlist” option, yet all the other rules remain the same, which of the following is NOT an acceptable list of all the students who could be waitlisted?
