1- neither, unfortunately, but i do think i'll be able to go to the alumni reception in boston in april
2- strong contender
3- at this point, the other contenders are NYU and Virginia.  i'm still waiting on harvard, stanford, etc., but i'm not expecting much in that department...

i received a complete notice by email, and i applied well after you did, fawltytowers.  if you haven't even heard if you're complete or not, i'd call and see what's up.

I live in West Haven now, New Haven isn't bad at all. Then again, I have actual experience there, and all of you are just making assumptions.

I lived 30 minutes from new haven for 18 years. It sucks.

In your opinion.  I just wanted to let people know that not EVERYONE dislikes New Haven.

that's true- i have a friend from high school who went to yale for undergrad, and she thinks it's the greatest place on earth...  to each his own, i guess.

i went to summer camp in ann arbor in high school, and we felt trapped because no one had a car- ann arbor is bigger than you'd think, and walking places takes can take a long time (and then when it's snowing...)

a car's probably not absolutely necessary, but i think it would make getting to the grocery store, movie theatre, and other parts of ann arbor, much more convenient.

i can't decide between UVA and UMich.  and assuming i get in nowhere else, that's the choice i'm facing (throwing in NYU as well).

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Boalt Faculty Review???

yeah, i got this too, and i'm very borderline, maybe on the low side (169/3.73).  i'm just glad i'm still in the process, and that we have a pretty firm date to expect something.

I got the "under review" email from Berkeley a week or so ago... today I got ANOTHER email from them saying that my app was "selected for further review by the Boalt Hall faculty admissions committee" and that my decision will be avail after March 22... anyone else recieve this?  Anyone know what this means?

yeah I got this also, around 4:30pm eastern time.  i think it's a good thing- at least it's not a rejection, which is what is happening to a lot of other people, and we have a firm date for them to respond to us.

here in cambridge, there is "speculation" about everyone from dean kagan, to the current president of RPI (she's a black woman!), to bill clinton, to sandra day o'connor, to someone foreign...

in short, don't believe any "speculation"- it's way too early in the process.

Law School Admissions / Re: Additional LOR
« on: February 28, 2006, 02:44:57 PM »
i sent an extra lor throuhg lsac, and it went to all my schools, even the ones i'd already gotten into.  it took a little while for some schools (ahem, chicago...), so if you really want a school to see it right now, you might have the prof. just send a copy to them personally.
