i dont care what you guys think.  the real question is what size do the ladies prefer 6 or 9?

TCR is obviously: "Both, at the same time"

am i the only one who thinks that all these abreviations for words and phrases is getting ridiculous and making most everyone look like feminine hygiene product bags?

Incoming 1Ls / still waitlisted?
« on: June 28, 2006, 12:26:50 PM »
who is still on a waitlist somewhere?

i remember last year i sat on u of miami's waitlist til august, then decided not to go to law school and wait a year, probably a good choice thinking about it now.

but having gone through it, i personally think there should be some date by which schools have to let you know if your in or out.

dont most all classrooms have power outlets at each desk, and isnt that also normal at the library?  why exactly is it necessary to have a 9cell battery if your plugged in all the time?

« on: June 26, 2006, 01:58:09 PM »
does anyone use a docking station?

how does it effect the performance of you notebook?

i have a hp notebook and would probably have to get the generic hp docking station, and didnt know how that would negatively effect the performance of my notebook.

wouldnt middle class be the class that is making the average income for that city?  Just a thought.  Since the majority of the nation is middle class... hence making it inevitably the average class.

perform a wikopedia search for your city and that will give you the average family income for your city..

I think Dallas is right at $40,000/yr per family

this is a pretty niave statement.  if you dont understand that 'middle class' fluxuates based on location then your an idiot.  if your going to say that, why dont we just calculate the 'middle class' for the entire world and we'll say thats all an average american in NYC would need to get by, after all i think making 150 dollars a year should cover everything you need.

i also looked up the most expensive cities in the world.  NYC is number 10.  no other U.S. city is on the list of the top 10, after NYC came SF.

i'm not going to michigan but ive read over some of the posts and im pretty impressed.  i like the attitude of most of the posters but more than that i'm impressed with the writing, some of it has actually made me laugh and thats pretty impressive for some 1L's.

what do i mean by comfortable?  the definition changes between cities.  like the above posted put in So Cal no one walks and his estimated car payment was on a Mercedes.  that certainly wouldnt be considered the norm in most places but there, that is what is considered comfortable middle class.  i'm not saying, what do u have to make to keep up with all the crap the neighbors have, but in order to not be poor amongst your friends or the rich one, what do u have to make?

i guess these are my estimates:

NYC: single: 75k, couple 125k
Philly: single 55k, couple 90k
Iowa: single 40k, couple 65k
Cal: single 75k, couple 125k

maybe im way off, i dont know, i was just wondering what other people think.

well obviously we are a consumer driven economy.  we dont need ipods or anything like that really, but the fact of the matter is, is that life is like that these days.  i'm not asking how much money do u have to make so u can have everything u need to impress everyone else, but rather, how much money do people have to make today to live comfortably.  i'm not saying owning every piece of junk techie thing, or driving a lexus, but how much do u need to have the ability to get some of the stuff you want on top of all of the stuff you need.

and, i think that having two people in a house working has almost become a necesity.  one reason is that most people are going to college now, and are graduating with huge debts, so unless one person is paying off both loans, having two people working at least for 10 or so years is probably a must
