Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Re: Visit to Willamette

This is a warning from a current WU undergrad. (Going someplace else for law school.)

Salem is a dump, hands down the worst city in Oregon. Cheap, but sketchy as all get out. The bars are lame except for a few McMinnamin's, food options are limited, outdoor options are weak. Far away from skiing , climbing, and lots of petty crime. Serious meth and/or homeless, transient problem. Go to L & C, portland is much better. Don't be fooled by the pretty campus. I've put 20,000 miles a year on my car escape this place on the weekends.

Where should I go next fall? / Berkely v. Chicago
« on: February 14, 2006, 03:49:27 PM »
Any thoughts on which would be a better pick?
Interested in jurisprudence, comparative, and international law; private sector initially, but maybe academia or gov't later.
Straight out of college; pretty outdoorsy.

Both berekly and chicago seem great, with the later maybe being a touch more academic,
but boalt seems like it has an amazing quality of life.

Any thoughts?

Denials / Time to get worried?
« on: January 27, 2006, 11:20:58 PM »
I'm a applicant with pretty strong raw numbers- 178 LSAT, 3.90 GPA- but little extracurriculars, so-so private school, no work experience, and i'm a white male.

Haven't heard from yale or stanford, no surprise, but...

haven't heard from chicago or columbia, either, which makes me nervous.
At this point is a ding likely, or am i worrying too soon?
any sense on when the dings will come?

thanks for any insight...
