LIVE WEBCAST...

On Tuesday, July 18, the Kaiser Family Foundation will host a live webcast of the forum, Paths to Success: A Forum on Young African-American Men. This forum - sponsored by Kaiser and The Washington Post - features Bill Cosby and a panel of national leaders, who will examine the experiences of young black men in America. The forum will discuss the results of a major new national survey conducted by The Washington Post, the Kaiser Family Foundation, and Harvard University.

WHO: The event will be moderated by Harvard Law School Professor and Foundation Trustee Charles J. Ogletree, Jr. Foundation CEO and former New Jersey Human Services Commissioner Drew Altman will provide opening remarks and highlight key findings from the survey. The forum will begin with a conversation with Bill Cosby followed by a panel discussion among national leaders and young people.

Panelists include:

Ras Baraka, high school vice principal and leader in gang intervention and prevention;
Joy Angela DeGruy-Leary, assistant professor at Portland State University and trainer and counselor for at-risk youth;
Ronald Dellums, former U.S. Congressman, Chair of the Joint Center's Dellums Commission on young men of color and mayor-elect of Oakland, CA;
James Forman, Jr., Professor of Law at Georgetown University;
Dion Haynes and Steven Holmes of The Washington Post;
Rev. Donald Isaac, Executive Director of the East of the River Clergy-Police-Community Partnership;
Jachin Leatherman, Ballou High School Valedictorian;
Wayne Nesbit, Ballou High School Salutatorian;
Eleanor Holmes Norton, U.S. Congresswoman;
Dr. Alvin Poussaint, Judge Baker Children’s Center;
Eva Rousseau, former principal of Dunbar Senior High School in Washington, D.C.;
Faye Wattleton, President of the Center for the Advancement of Women; and
Corey Wiggins, doctoral student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and 2004 Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholar.
WHAT: The discussion will focus on the results of the Post/Kaiser/Harvard survey and strategies to enable young black men to succeed in America today, building on themes presented in the Post’s series, Being a Black Man.

BTW, used to be a Knicks fan too, from the John Starks era to a couple of seasons before the end of the Spreewell era (still have my Spreewell jersey).  Loved those Heat-Knicks series, it was eastern conference basketball at it's best.

Have to respectfully disagree with you on this one.  They have a well-run organization over there but I'm putting it out there and predicting another dynasty - Heat back to back to back... Yeah, I think a lot of people were Knicks fans back in those days (including myself).  It all ended for me when Miller scored 8 points in like 10 seconds...then Ewing missed a wide open lay-up with no time left on the clock...my heart just couldn't take another season with them after that.

The Pistons are good but they need to find new ways to win.  It won't be a foregone conclusion that they will be the Eastern Conference champs next year.

Unfortunately it's no longer a foregone conclusion.  They really fell apart in the playoffs this year.  It was like watching a completely different team fromt he one they had in the regular season.  However, they're still the best team in the league when they play like they can. 

My offseason plan would go like this:

1) Fire Flip (just not playoff coach)
2) Bring in Bill Laimbeer (does play by play for them and I'm sure he'd be a great coach)
3) Trade Sheed (love him when he shows up, but that only happens every other game, plus he has a huge contract)
4) Sign Jalen Rose and another scorer off the bench (we have no bench)

I'm gonna have to get an internet feed to watch the games at Havad next year.

Lehman looked awesome in the penalty shoot-out.  Guessed right everytime and almost saved every single attempt (actually saving 2).
