Maybe I'm taking the easy way out, but I'm applying for on-campus housing...I spoke to several students about it, all have given positive reviews.  Can't beat the location, facilities are fairly new and clean, and a reasonably good deal for the neighborhood.

Then again, I am going to GULC right from undergrad, so it'll be a bit easier for me to return to dorm-style living...

I didn't read all of the posts, so I apologize if I repeat is my advice.  You don't have to go to the best college in order to get into a top law school.  What you need is a solid GPA/LSAT and something that makes you stand out.  In my case, I went abroad for a year - spent 4 months in DC (away from my home university in Boston) then Oxford for 6 months...however, that is not the only option.  Play a varsity sport and become captain, start a charitable drive, secure a decent part time job where you have a position of some status.  Basically, do something to get noticed!!

Other than that, make sure that you're committed to academics.  You don't have to be a die-hard academic, I'm definitely not.  What you need is to find a subject that interests you and take many courses in that discipline.  If you like what you're doing in college, and you committed to putting in the work, you'll do well.  It'll come naturally, I promise.

Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do great!  Maybe I'll see you at GULC in a few years =)

Georgetown  :)

I think you're fine...besides, everyone already met us this weekend =)  Thanks for the pictures!!!

Hey all-

I figured I'd add in a few thoughts as well.  First, it was great to meet everyone - a bit odd at first, but made for a good time over the two days.  And for everyone that isn't officially on LSD (but stalks the board...) thanks to those who introduced themselves =)

As for Georgetown, I thought they did a really nice job with the weekend.  Almost all of the students whom I encountered were very outgoing, ideologically diverse, and exceptionally enthusiastic about Georgetown.  I had the opportunity to speak with a few students who were not part of the weekend, and they too seemed to enjoy a positive experience at GULC.  Seems like most students are happy there.

The facilities are great - gym is incredible (a spinning room? sauna? yay!) - and the student housing was, as expected, dormish.  I plan on living there because it seems like a good way to meet people and I don't want the hassle of independently locating a place in DC.  They're expensive, but it's everything is.

Impressive faculty, seemingly interesting course selections.  The incredibly large 1L course sizes scare me a bit, but I was assured that many 2L and 3L classes are between 10-30 people.  Classrooms are generic, nothing special.

I guess that's it for now.  Catz - please send me those pictures, I'd love to see them. Any LSDers who decide on Gtown, let me know - I'm definitely attending, so we can talk before the fall.  Best of luck with the rest of your apps!

Thanks legapp, facebook was great!

Are there any definite plans yet for meeting up?

Pre or Post party sounds good to me, although so far I'm signed up to stay with a current student...

Just checking - still no facebook sent out yet, right?

Hey all-

I'm new to LSD, so let me know if this has already been answered somewhere else...what are people's thought on staying with a current student on Thursday night?  Are most people staying at hotels or with students?

Also, has there been any resolution on where to meet up?  I'd love to join in the gathering  :)
