I just checked out LSN from last year.

48 applicants were accepted to Yale out of roughly 400 applicants.  Exactly three ALSO got into Stanford but got dinged or deferred by Harvard.  None of them ended up getting in.  Also, none of them are similar to me:

161/3.5 URM
170/3.9 Non-URM
168/3.72 Ivy

You got deferred because they knew you were YLS material and they might not get you. I'm probably getting deferred, too, since we have gotten the same treatment from H all along (no call, no love, etc.) I haven't gotten the letter yet, though.

That's a very nice thing to say.

I heard from TStock today...

in the form of a HOLD letter. ;)

Do you actually care about Harvard, bass?  I'd just send them the Yale admittance letter as your formal rejection, let Toby weep over that one.

I have a serious GF.  I told her "I want to go to H, and there is a decent chance I'll get in."  She applied to 2 grad schools in Boston.  About Yale I said, "It's just a bargaining chip, don't worry."

Yea, I cared about Harvard then. A little less now, but there's still the logistical problem.

Did you get the phone/interview call?

Are you Pedestrian?

Am I pedestrian?  Do you mean, is there anything to me other than numbers?

No call, just kind of surprised.  I also have been known to complain about not getting a call.

Honestly, I doubt that I'll get in.  I'll send in some extra stuff, but nothing that will wow them (though I'll hear within 2 weeks about a second law review article that may be published).  When it comes down to it, I am less motivated because Yale is such a good option.

Since the first two batches virtually no one with less than a 175 has been accepted according to LSN...

But why wasn't I in an earlier batch?  I applied at the first possible instant.

are you freaking kidding me?  i am shocked, awed and bamboozled

No kidding.  I almost didn't apply to Yale because I had my heart set on Harvard.  Well...maybe not anymore.

I think he's just scared his friend IRL screwed over one of my best friends. My scary reputation and all ;)

(Well, I'm not sure if he's actually friends with him.  But they know each other.)

The Bass is BACK!  And with news, but more on that in a moment.

I know your friend?  I wonder who...

Here's the news:  I AM IN THIS THREAD BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HELD AT HARVARD!!!

There are several people who committed to hat-eating and the like (you know who you are)...well get those derbies ready!!!
