Law School Admissions / Re: scary mail

Thin mail is usually bad, but there are many schools who send acceptance letters in thin envelopes.  So don't fret even when the real deal shows up.

Why not all three?  On the LSAC website, they have a link which designates the number of recommendations required and accepted.  Almost all schools accept at least three.  Well atleast all the ones I am applying to and that is about 15.  So I think sending all three would work.  Especially since they all sound spectacular.

Law School Admissions / Bush makes no sense
« on: October 12, 2004, 09:11:09 AM »
Not to start a political Brew-Ha-Ha, but I have noticed Bush in recent weeks picking apart Kerry's speeches by ridculously taking them out of context.  Just recently the whole terrorism is a "nuisance" fiasco.  I listened to Kerry's speech and he said he wanted to eradicate terrorism, so it is not a fear embedded in the minds of the public.  He acknowledged that terrorism can never be completely eliminated, but any intelligent being know that.  It is like crime.  You can clean up the streets, but there will always be crime.  It is our duty to eliminate it as best as possible, so we are truly safe.

Bush tries to twist the words of Kerry.  I am not buying it.  Is anyone else?

I went to Canada last weekend and exchanged 80 USD for only 96 CAD.  What a rip off!  The US dollar sucks.  I remember the days when I could spend up in Canada and not think I was spending real money.  Times have changed.  I do prefer the "Monopoly Money" look Canadian currency has.  US money is too neat and perfect.  We should lose the borders, too.  Live a little.

Cheers!

I know some people who got into Willamette with numbers like yours.  I think Willamette is a safety for you though.  Maybe Seattle U.  It is a 2nd tier and not too hard to get into.  Just apply early.

You have stats similar to mine.  A 3.2 GPA and 158 LSAT.  If you can get your LSAT in the 155+ range you should keep your sights on top 75-100 school as possibles.  Then apply to a few 3rd and 4th tier schools as safeties.  Also, apply to some reaches in the bottom of the 1st tier.  Why not?  You could get in.  Where are you looking geographically?

DC is typically extremely liberal.  A bunch of left-wing activist roaming the town.  As for Kerry losing Washington state, that won't happen.  I am from the Pacific NW and see 1 Bush supporter to 10 Kerry supporters.  Granted I live in Seattle, so I don't see the more Republican side of the state WA will still go to Kerry.  I think Oregon should be the same way.  I am not sure of MN or MI.

In 2000?  It was suprising he lost.  It is 11 electoral votes I think.  Which would have given Gore more than the 270 majority.  I do think the margin of defeat in this state was approx. 3-5%.  It was believed Gore took this one for granted.  But if he took this state, we would be having a much different election.

I was talking about 2000.  Gore should have won his home state.  I don't think Kerry will take it this year, but I believe in 2000 people get hung up on Florida.  But Gore should not have lost this state.  Poor campaign decisions attributed to Gore's defeat.  And a lack of campaigning in Tennessee was a cause allowing Florida to become an issue.  It should have been a non-factor.

I agree, but have faith the swing states will swing in Kerry's direction following the debates.  This was precisely the reason Bush pulled out victories in those states in 2000.  He won the debate and with that the electoral votes of states like Tenn.  This state is where I believe Gore blew the election.  But that is just my opinion.
