Waitlisted last week of March.
Sent in a letter of update- significant updates, lots of good stuff has happened to make me a much stronger applicant- about two weeks ago. Sent in a published version of my thesis and another journal i was published in on Friday- they had not received it when I spoke to Renee Post this morning. They also had not yet received notification of my Phi Betta Kappa acceptance. I think this was more "which applicants personal profile and personality do we like so far?" kinda thing - and they were obviously going for high GPAs. AWESOME!
I got my first call around 10 am this morning, we spoke for a few minutes. She called me back about two hours later. I got the impression she was picking files to then discuss with the other admissions folks- she wanted to "make my case" and update, she asked alot of detailed questions. Then she spoke with Dean Meeker and some others, and called back. I got the impression she was doing this a limited number of times today but certainly more than just me. No way she'd call if you werent 90% in at this point.
CANT WAIT TO STUDY WITH YOU IN THE FALL
i got into Penn today off the WL, and therefore withdrew from Columbia WL.
its a personal decision to make but i dont know anyone at Columbia (and i know a whole bunch) who dont concede that they hated 1L and are in the most competitive environment ever. I think CLS is unbeatable in terms of NYC job placement (better than Harv and NYU for sure, def Penn too) but in terms of QOL and general environment- I think Penn is the better option, esp if youre not tied to NYC.
i have had some impressive post-application developments (got published in journal, got thesis published, and made phi betta kappa, not to mention a kick ass full time job) and I think those developments made me extremely competitive in the WL pool- it paid off today with Penn. Knowing that I have a shot a CLS, I am withdrawing- Penn is just a more ideal fit.
You cant go wrong either way tho- bargain them down.
thats pretty much exactly what happened to me- she wanted confirmation I'd go.... but she didnt gimme a few days to confirm, she called back a few hours later. Her name was Renee Post, and she was fantastic.
interesting that we seem to be the only WL --> Accepted on these/LSN boards because we have IDENTICAL numbers- im 167 and 3.86
looks like they are looking for their range LSAT with higher GPAs, which makes sense given the Harvard WL trends that had to have affected their yield.
but i am so thrilled i cant even tell you. this is so awesome. congrats!!!

could you please withdraw at Mich? thanks.
Done and done. I also withdrew from Cornell today- harder than I thought it would be, I really did like that place.
phone call with some questions about my thesis and stuff, said they were reviewing some WL files and wanted a clearer picture. I cleared her picture.
Got another call a few hours later. Everyone at that office is so sweet and friendly it is just insane.
We didnt discuss deposit deadline- I told her flat out I am 100% coming, and I assume there will be more information in the packet I get to enjoy in a few days.
I wish LSD World could see me BEEEEAMING right now.
