Law School Admissions / Re: Call from Harvard
« on: March 09, 2006, 06:12:41 PM »
We got the same email, YC, I just can't have him calling any old time at work, b/c I have meetings and the like, and I am on the West Coast, so I thought I would ask him to call me at a specific time.

Congrats, man. Our numbers are pretty close, so I'm interested to see how things work out for you. Good luck!

P.S. When's someone going to roll up in here with a Santino 'tar?

Good find!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Deferred @ Penn

Don't know if this helps any, but I talked to Dean Meeker at a reception recently and he said that they should be done with acceptances by the middle of March. I know it's nothing mind-blowing considering the Admit Weekend is March 23, but I thought you guys might like to know something somewhat concrete.

Yeah I'll be there. That seems like a pretty heavy-duty guest list. I hope this thing isn't too formal...

Bump... just got the e-mail. It's good to know I can at least make a choice now  :)

EDIT: Also just got an e-mail for a Penn Law Reception/ Dinner in Chicago. Sweet!

Law School Admissions / Re: Everyone waiting for a second call from Toby
« on: February 28, 2006, 10:48:33 AM »
Hah... I've been waiting for a second call for almost forty days now!  I hope I won't be the first call -> reject or call -> waitlist guy  :-\

Not to be a bummer...but I waited 49 then got my hold- two months to the day from going complete.  I think no one has waited over two weeks and not been subsequently held.  Good luck though!!

Yeah, I think the timing of my call made things complicated. I guess I still have twelve days to hear something back and a hold is definitely a possibility. Although... I have to wonder why HLS wouldn't just straight up reject (or hopefully accept) me considering they have to know the caliber of their applicant pool by now and whether they have room for a lowish-numbers guy like me.

Anyway, lovelove, good luck to you too! I know my wait has been nothing compared to yours, but I'm sure everything will turn out well for you :-)

Also, thanks for the vote of confidence, CoreeneNoir! I was so happy to see you get in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can join the Cardinal to Crimson club too ;-)

Law School Admissions / Re: HLS call & still waiting?

Same here.

I also agree that since the deadline has passed, Harvard has a pretty good idea of their applicant pool. I think once they have an estimate of the number of auto-admit acceptances they'll be offering, they can determine how many others they can admit. Hopefully we'd be on the top of that list :-)

Considering Mr. Stock makes admissions offer phone calls on Thursdays, is anyone else super excited/ nervous for this afternoon to come around?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Waitlisted at Columbia

Guess I belong in this thread. Would you guys still seriously consider Columbia if we have to wait that long for a decision? I'm half-tempted to just put it out of mind...

Well, my numbers are awfully close to Merkina (~3.4 lsdas, 170 average) and I got the hold letter today too.  About the graciousness of the letter, I have some doubts:  "We share in your disappointment" ?  Uh...yeah, I believe that.  Not that I have any beef with the school; at least I'm still alive.

Yuck. Got the letter today. Sucks that we have to wait until June for a definitive answer. Don't most other schools want a deposit before then?

Anyway, best of luck to everyone else. Look forward to hanging out with y'all  :)

Are we all talking about the same letter?  Mine definitely did not mention disappointments or the sharing in them.  And it underlined April 30th as when a final decision would be sent at the latest.

Jason - I co-sign.  If it mentions June or says something about "disappointment," it aint the deferral letter, at least not the one I got.  Sounds more like Waitlist ("Reserve").

Looking at the letter, I think you're right. The letter tried to make a distinction between other schools' "waitlist" and Columbia's "reserve" list, but if it walks like a duck...

Okay time to jump ship to the other thread. Good luck, guys.
