How strong is the alumni network?
Thanks for answering Qs
BU is a huge school, so there are a lot of alumni out there even though the law school is small. We don't have big sports programs that usually garner a great deal of alumni support (my undergrad had great alumni support largely due to the loyalty the sports program created). I have to say, I have never experienced an alumni network that leads to a job...at any school. I haven't really ever heard of someone getting a job becuase of an alumni. Therefore, I wouldn't put too much an emphasis on alumni networking. I think thats just something flasshy schools say to recruit. That being said, I think we have a pretty good alumni network.

I am pretty happy with having attended the school. I was never overwhelmed with my experience, but I made some pretty good friends and felt intellectually stimulated. I think I expected a few more career options, but I am still happy with where I am at. So I would say I have had a positive experience.

What are career prospects like outside of Boston/NYC? Do a lot of other firms from other locations recruit on campus? (I'm thinking about working in Chicago after graduation) Have you heard of very many BU grads working outside of the east coast? If no, is this because of self-selection or because it's just tougher to get a job elsewhere?
Outside of Boston,we do okay. We do pretty well in NYC becuase there are so many jobs there. We have a joint BC/BU recruiting fair so any firm that visits one school goes to teh other. As such, its in the interest of large firms to come to Boston to be able to recruit at two-top tier schools in a short period of time. I know only a few people going to Cali and other areas. I think most top tier schools on the east coast are like this though.

I was shooting for a bigger firm at the time of 2L OCI. Now I am happy with a midsized firm. While the pay isnt as high, the QOL is much better. I never have to work weekends and making partner is a reality.

Starting salary is 90k a year. I am happy with the firm. I did get a few offers. Not all of them were in Boston, but they were all pretty decent midsized firms. I used OCI to get a biglaw offer, but I didnt get as many interviews as I thought I might. I had a one or two interviews with big firms in Boston that just didnt pan out. What can ya do. I was a little above the median in my class.

To the OP:
Seriously, posts like this are embarrassing to read. Just take your summer job, turn it into an offer, and stop worrying about what others think about your school. Jesus. If you go out and get a good firm job offer, then you shouldnt care about what others think. If you dont get the offer, then you shouldn't be posting here anyways. Don't take this stuff so personally.

Do you know much about the competitiveness of the international exchange programs? Is it somewhat easy to get a spot or do you have to be ranking very well etc?
When I spoke to the BU rep at a local law fair she told me all scholarships were numbers-based. Do you know (either concretely or just from talking to people) at around what LSAT does the money start coming and what the average scholarship is?
The scholarships are numbers based, so you really want to hit above a 166 to get a scholarship, though some people will get money if they have a really great application. Teh international exchange program is pretty competitive becuase a lot of people really want to do international law right now. Its a pretty hott area of law, though some disagree whether such a specialty actually exists.
