Law School Admissions / GPA question
« on: January 12, 2006, 01:38:47 AM »
i was just wondering about something. I know some schools have a 4.3 scale, meaning it is possible to get an A+ in a class.  But others (such as mine) will only give a grade up to an A. (4.0) so i wondering, is a 3.5/4.0 looked at the same way as a 3.5/4.3? do they even care what the scale is out of? Im assuming LSAC does not scaled your GPA onto a 4.0 scale?

I think especially b/c you are indexed, this is incredibly unfair to those of us whose school simply did not give out 4.3. may not seem like alot, but i managed almost all As my last few semesters, and if we had a 4.3 i may have had a higher enough GPA to feel more confident at many of the schools i applied to...

so i was just curious if schools take this consideration into account?

perhaps this is rather stupid..but what does the column entitled "index" mean?

General Off-Topic Board / so i used to think i was stupid
« on: January 04, 2006, 11:14:01 AM »
by posting questions that i figured all these veteran posters who had really high LSN numbers would make fun of me for

now that i have been on the board for a bit (a great way to waste time at work)..i realize

there are so many even dumber people posting idiotic things..

even though im probably still stupid, the stupidity of others seems to comfort me

disclaimer: not this guys are funny..i meant some people in the other forums asking questions about law school related stuff

Choosing the Right Law School / Brooklyn v. Cardozo
« on: January 03, 2006, 07:11:46 PM »
just curious to what anyone had to say about these two schools

I am from NYC, and hopefully will be back here for law school (in boston for UG right now). i plan on visiting both schools.  they are both ranked the same, cardozo in a better location (according to me, i perfer manhattan). since i may get dinged at fordham but brooklyn is more of a safety and i was accpeted to Cardozo already I was wondering if anyone could give me any input about the two schools when pitted against each other

many thanks,

Law School Admissions / updated transcript
« on: January 03, 2006, 08:46:53 AM »
so i think this has been addressed before, but i wanted to ask it again.

-if i send my updated transcript to LSAC will it automatically send it to the the law schools i applied to (that requested my reports already)
-and will this make a difference or do you think they have already reviewed my app and probably made a decision (i applied in mid- nov)

Incoming 1Ls / what is with all these applicants???
« on: January 02, 2006, 11:33:32 PM »
so lately everyone I talk to is applying to law school..or it seems like it.  Everytime I start talking to an old friend and ask them what they are up to, they tell me they are applying to law school.  (however most of them have 2.8 GPAs and have yet to take the LSATs)

is law school becoming the new undergrad or something?  are people just going b/c they want to stay in school for a few more years? it's kind of depressing me for some reason knowing more and more people are applying (possibly b/c i know my chances will decrease)

General Off-Topic Board / Damn you guys are horny

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / General question about waitlists
« on: December 24, 2005, 10:37:53 PM »
so this may be a very obvious question, and i may know the answer to it when (or if) i get put on a waitlist somewhere...but if you are waitlisted from fulltime are you put up for consideration for PT?
