I was top 1% at amy tier 4 with a cum GPA of 3.68 (rank was only  done with first semester grades which were a 3.86) I didn't get into GULC, but I got into a T1 and a T2 with those grades. I am attending the T1

Probably so long as Jessica Cutler wasn't on the adcom board, you might have a shot. Plus, throw in a picture of yourself..that outta help in case she is.

As for my compelling reasons... I had husband was being transferred. But I didn't use that in the personal statement. I think my comment was more along the lines of "another there are numerous personal reasona why I would give a (hypothetical) left nut to attend your school, none are more important than the oppotunities UniversityofKissingyourAss would provide me"

That got me into FSU, but then a last minute call from Maryland regarding my incomplete application and a sob story about my husband's transfer being changed from Tallahassee to D.C., and I got a call saying I was in, circumventing the system a bit. So I tend to believe my compelling reason, though not ultimately the reason for my acceptance, was significant in the WAY my acceptance came about...

Transferring / Re: Will Law Review Boost My Transfer Options\Chances?

Personally I would do Law Review because it still does go on your transcript to future employers so they can see that you had the chops to make law review (I booked Legal Writing but that didnt give me a spot on a journal, so if you were to look at both of our resumes side by side, yours would look more impressive simply because you had the law review on it in addition to booking legal writing)

Thanks everyone! I'm still in shock (and the pure logistics of cancelling all my FSU stuff and getting up to MD in the next week!)

Husband will be working in Crystal City (and no, we don't have ot live on any base... thank god!) Last time he was working for this same unit, we lived out in Prince William County, so being on the OTHER side will be interesting..I'm looking forward to it. We are going to look for something in the College Park/Greenbelt area, because the Metro runs out there and he can take that into work, and that will cut my drive to Baltimore in half as well. Does anyone know if 295 or 95 is worse in that cooridore for traffic? I used to take 66 from Fairfax out to PWC and it SUCKED but took me maybe an hour in rush hour (20 min non rush hour). I don't know the traffic patterns on the other side of the Beltway..

Thanks again everyone!

Is it as crazy as it seems? Other than the usual short notice have to move 13 hours away and cancel all the *&^% at the current transfer school.... I am starting to get nervous about going to school there... I wasn't nervous about FSU...and Maryland isn't that much higher...but for some reason.. I'm nervous.... maybe because I thought I wrote off this chance months ago and haven't given it another thought, so I feel like I don't know anything about it....

Road trip to Baltimore next week!

Transferring / T4 to T1

Ok, just got a call today and found out I was accepted (yes, TODAY, JAN 4th) at Univ. of Maryland. Classes start Jan 16th. Due to the fact my husband's orders (military) were changed from Tallahassee to D.C., looks like I will be going to U-MD instead of FSU...
craziness ensues...

Current Law Students / Re: Getting ahead during break - good idea?

I think if you have the reading assingments, it certainly would be benefeficial to read now while you can. Yeah, you are still going to have to review during the first few weeks of class, but at least you can have a bulk of the reading for those weeks out of the way and can focus on supplemmental materials to really understand the material.

We didnt do drafts... it was a 30 page brief and 2 oral arguments.. on and off brief... the class I took in conjunction with Moot Court. He even told us he was taking the curve off. So much for that. Brief was graded with our grading number, but oral arguments obviously weren't. Hell, he even told me I had the highest participation grade in the class and was calling me to discuss what competitions he wanted me to work on for the upcoming Moot Court Season...

Whatever..mathematically it doesnt make sense to me, how he arrived at my grade...I am hoping once I see the actual breakdown, I might be able to make some sense out of it, but as of now I am stumpped...

Well I just talked to the prof.. he gave me the general breakdown of how he got to my grade... he apparantly 'justified' it... we're meeting in a week or so to go over the more detailed breakdown but whatever...I guess it is what it is...time to move on

Yeah, it doesn't make sense, especially considering this prof is one who wrote me a letter of rec for the transfer to begin with, but this grade is a horrible deviation from my standard.. and it wasn't like I didn't try...It was a paper class, no exam, and half the grading was done prior to me making the decision to transfer, so it wasnt like I was slacking because I knew I was transferring. Its just so bizzare ....I'm at a loss. Maybe I will know more once I get my paper back and can talk to the prof...
