Incoming 1Ls / Re: Environmental Law programs
« on: March 04, 2006, 11:12:04 PM »
I was accepted to Vermont and received a call from one of there professors to answer any questions I might have.  The most prevelent one was where could my wife work in the middle of nowhere Vermont.  The short answer was to drive to Montpilier or Dartmoth med center.  The second question was how they placed outside of Vermont.  Essentially she said if you were specializing in Environmental Law you could essecntially name where you wanted to practice but other than that you were screwed.

DIAMONDS ARE TRITE!!! and any woman that demands one of you probably isn't worth marrying.  Having said that I took my wife for a cruise where we were engaged after we spent a day floating through river caves on inturtubes in Belize and then I asked her with a family "treasure" with two tiny diamonds on the side of a flat gold ring with my great grandfathers initials of JW engraved on it.  He was the first of my family to come to America and just happened to have the same initials of my wife JW.

You really have to think for yourself why you are asking someone to spend the rest of your life with them.   If it depends on a stupid rock andn the size, cut, and clarity of it...probably not gonna last.   Think of why you love the other  person and try to come up with a way to express that to them.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: U of U (Utah)

Well I got waitlisted at Utah and would probably go there over my current most likely choice (St. Louis).  I find it interesting that you mentioned how they seem to look at life experiences and not just numbers.  Since my numbers aren't all that great how much of a difference do you think it would make for me to write a letter stressing my continued interest and my life experiences?

Financial Aid / Re: Has Anyone Been Offered a FinAid Package Yet?

Just got my first from Lewis and Clark: $8,500 (sub), $10,000 (unsub), and $23,760 in private loans.  No scholarships or grants mean I won't be going there.

I'm still waiting to hear from U of O but you're telling me that the handful of people who just heard this past week have to make a decision by April 1st and give a $100 that won't go towards tuition!  Seriously they were pissing me off already but this is a joke.

no, we're going on a roadtrip to visit schools that week and the furthest west we're gonna make it is salt lake

I might not be able to make the L&C on campus day on 3/24 because of work.

you're kidding right, do I need to make a call and regulate?

I was just about to post that Schelgs, you beat me to it by a minute.  Sorry I didn't return your call, we were in Junction.

Edit:  I'm the one the got a call but no money.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Anyone else sick of not knowing?
« on: February 24, 2006, 03:48:52 PM »
Anybody else have no clue?  Anybody else feel like they don't really want to go back to school, full-time, for three years, surrounded by law students.... sacrificing a real job, a world outside of the bubble?

I've been out of school for three years and I can't wait to get back and not have to work a "real" job.  I really just want to know where I'm in and where I'm out so I can make my decision.
