That's true. Well if it helps (and it may not), I put a seat deposit on an undergrad school I DID NOT attend. I backed out and they just kept my deposit.

Even if you do lose it, you're spending THOUSANDS of dollars to go to school. Isn't it worth $200 to save a spot?

I applied both in state and out of state. I also applied to transfer friendly schools. I can't say they all were because I applied to a lot of schools (12). The closest I've even gotten to a decision is Santa Clara saying my application is "in committee." It's been that way for 9 days... I guess some schools also don't do status checks online and I am quite far from a few. Maybe I'm just reasoning with myself, but all I really want is one acceptance so I can leave my old school

It depends on the school. I have talked with schools that say they will look at them as soon as your file is complete and others that say they will wait until the first or second week in July when most schools have released grades from your first year.

Just an FYI, you have PSU as part of the Philly category. It's not close to Philly. It's smack in the middle of PA (closer to Harrisburg) and is 3 hrs from Philly and 3 hrs from Pittsburgh.

School matters and T3/T4 graduates are having a much harder time finding work than T2s. My first thoughts for anyone going to law school is to reconsider THAT decision...My current school is ranked in the Low-60's and I want to transfer to a T3 for reasons pertaining to location.. This is the best advice you will get. I couldn't have said it better myself. If anything, transfer to a higher ranked schools. From what I've been told, T25 grads aren't even a shoe-in anymore. 68

Since nobody was able to reply, maybe I should rephrase/redefine my question.
After looking through all 43 pages on this topic, some people have asked similar questions, but the answers are rather outdated. In today's day and age, more students are attending law school than ever before (partially because of the economy). Coming from the top 10% of a tier 4 law school, is it feasible to be accepted as a transfer to a mid level tier 1 or tier 2? What about top 20%? Hopefully this makes it easier to understand what I am aiming at. Thanks in advance. Kjw5029 70

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but it was unrealistic to search through 43 pages of posts.
I'm a second semester student at a crappy (tier 4) law school. I got my first semester grades and was able to be in the top 4% of my class. I'm wondering what my choices are for transferring schools from people who have attempted transferring in the past. Some deadlines have passed and I have applied, but I'm really wondering where I should be aiming if I keep within the top 10% of my class. Thanks in advance. kjw5029 |
