General Board / Re: Whats the most annoying thing a 1L can do?
« on: July 12, 2007, 08:09:50 PM »

Im kind of interested by what kind of things im gonna find annoying next year when i am thrown in with a mostly all new group of students now that we dont have sections anymore.

Have you been annoyed this summer?  I find certain people's voices annoying, but that's not specific to law school.  I think our summer classes provided way fewer opportunities to be irritated than my 1L classes did, but maybe that's a function of summer, or of me personally being more relaxed.

This guy wasn't usually front row, but he was in the Dr. Pepper class.  :)

Raising your hand 4 times per class session and starting every comment with "I just want to be sure I have this right..."  (and then repeating what the professor just said).

Bringing cans of Dr. Pepper to class after you've spilled them twice and been asked not to bring them any more.

EATING IN CLASS.  Especially if you put the granola bar under the desk like nobody can hear the crinkle crinkle, when you sit in the middle of the front row.

Ha, I just realized who I responded to.  So tell me, Verbal -- I don't go to bars *or* drink, but why is it annoying?

General Board / Re: Current OU Law students, which section is best?

Penrose = probably the best 1L professor I had.  Highly, highly recommended.

I also learned a lot from Winchell, but Penrose has almost universal popularity, for good reason.

If you're not politically/socially conservative, you might find Scaperlanda hard to sit through.  But maybe that was just me.

Ultimately, I don't think it matters.  Like Verbal, I think my section (4) was the best.  :)

I went to OU for undergrad, long ago, and just finished my 1L year here.  I think it's a different experience -- I almost never go up to main campus.  It's very insulated down at the law center.  But I don't know how it would be to come straight from UG.

Was that outline so-and-so sent me intentionally wrong, or is he just stupid?

I think Jacy explained it better than I could have.

Some dissents are important -- think Harlan in Plessy.

That said, I don't really know the answer to your question -- we didn't have essays taht asked about specific cases or dissents on the final.
