Law School Discussion

First, congrats on both of you being accepted!

I am attending Cooley's ann arbor campus in the fall, and I think Cooley is a sufficient law school. There are a lot of good programs, flexibility in scheduling, scholarships, and alumni everywhere. Thousands of people wouldn't continue to attend it if Cooley were as bad of a law school as some claim.. just in my opinion. Like everything it's going to be what you make of it.

I would also suggest the Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids campuses. Ann Arbor would be a more collegiate environment, and Grand Rapids gives more urban/city opportunities.

Im starting law school in the fall at an ABA accredited law school, but Im curious about taking online courses in the summers and transferring them into my normal school to save on tuition. I think this could work.. comments? Thanks!

Yes, I'd say you have a very good chance of admission. I applied last year and got in (and will be attending in fall). My lsat was slightly higher, but my gpa was around the 2.5 area. Message for more info if you like. Best of luck with your applications.

I would like to add (and possibly provide some direction to this discussion) that the decision to attend Cooley is more a toss up between Cooley and another tier 3 or 4 school - not Cooley or tier one or top 20 school.

From this, it would be useful to compare Cooley's results (post graduate employment & quality of jobs) with that of other tier3/4 schools.

I think that Cooley stands out in one way that its a large school giving it some name recognition- although it has a negative connotation, hopefully this changes to be regarded as a practical law school (like people regard say suffolk or new england in the Mass area).

So.. how many of you superior intellectual posters missed the first post saying please no trash talking cooley on this post? We've all already heard your claims & yet Cooley remains the largest law school in the country. 

I am going to Cooley in the fall of 2011 (deferred admission from april acceptance w/scholarship).  Lets make this about networking for people actually planning or currently going to Cooley Law. PM me if you are such a person.
