Choosing the Right Law School / Can a Chicago Grad find Employment in DC
« on: October 21, 2009, 04:44:19 PM »
How important is location when applying for the top 14?  I'm 171 LSAT/3.6 GPA.  I want to apply early decision to Chicago because I live there.  But then again I want to live in DC after I graduate.  Should I absorb the cost and go to Virginia or Duke instead of Chicago or with a school like UC will I be able to find a good job anywhere?

Law School Admissions / Does Early Admissions = No Scholarships?
« on: October 20, 2009, 05:09:50 PM »
It seems to me that if you apply early admissions to a school they have to incentive to try to entice you to come with a scholarship if you're accepted.

Am I right?  I want to apply early ad to the University of Chicago because it's close to home and I can save money.   But if early ad causes me to lose tens of thousands in scholarships, it's not worth it!

Law School Admissions / List Community College
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:09:37 PM »
I had a few years at a community college before I went to a 4 year institution.  For my common application section it asks for any secondary schools I attended, graduate schools, law schools and institutions the grant bachelors degrees.  There's nowhere for the community college.  I thought about putting it under bachelors degree institution, but it's not listed.  But when I go to law school applications they ask for all higher education institutes I've attended.  If I tell them about my CC, how will I send the transcripts to LSAC?

At my four year institution transcripts it indicates transfer credits I have but doesn't go into detail.

Choosing the Right Law School / How is early decision enforced?
« on: October 17, 2009, 10:20:08 PM »
If someone applied early decision and when he got accepted changed his mind and wanted to go somewhere else, how would a school enforce that?

What if the person ends up not wanting to go to law school at all?

It doesn't seem like this would be enforceable in any way.

Choosing the Right Law School / 3.6 GPA/171 LSAT Top 14?
« on: October 17, 2009, 07:24:14 AM »
Hi everyone,

I've got a GPA of 3.625 and an LSAT of 171.

Took 5 years to graduate (changed majors), humanities major, multilingual and spent two years at community college if any of that matters.  Taught English abroad.  Middle Eastern descent.

It looks like I'm above the 25th percentile in LSAT for Harvard and Yale but my GPA is too low.  Can I safely expect to get into any of the other T14?
